    Beautiful Resort in the Desert

We were in Big Bend for the first time and friends recommended Lajitas Golf Resort because it was located between the National Park and State Park. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We booked a separate cottage that had a small kitchen area, allowing us to cook our own meals. The furniture is lovely and most comfortable. We had some difficulty with the internet and hot water but simply needed some special instructions. Staff was super friendly and accommodating. The Spa is fabulous and a very relaxing way to enjoy your time in the desert. If you are going to Big Bend, plan your stay in advance. If your hikes are in the northern part of the park, it will be a bit of a drive for you. Perhaps it is best to plan to spend your nights in various areas of the park so that your time is not spent driving to and from your activity.

    Anything but a resort

If you like paying resort prices for 1950s Mom and Pop motel accommodations, this place is for you, it is unbelievable that your room could not connect to the internet wifi but that is only the beginning. We had 3 people in our room and only had 2 wash clothes. When we tried to contact the front desk, we discovered the in room telephone didnt work which of course is par for the course. And then when we decided we would like some ice, you guessed it, the ice machine didnt work. Only at check-out we were informed that ice was distributed by the front which is most inconvenient but you guessed it, this is a resort. I will compliment the restaurant as our meal was excellent. That being said, we had to leave our outdoor table and go inside as two of their outside heaters failed to operate. Their sidewalks were made of flat stones which were crumbly and uneven which made walking on them an adventure. If you have plans on staying here, I would recommend any of the old motels in the area as I couldnt imagine them being any worse and you would save a nice sum of money.

    Nice enjoyed are time

We stayed the summer of 2020 and it was really nice. NOT PERFECT but nice. I am shocked at how many people are dogging this place honestly. If you are use to the Trump tower or being overly pampered than I wouldn't go here. But if you consider they are in a a remote desert and have limited resources than its not all that bad. The Golf course if breath taking. The theather is nice. Food at resturant was good. Ziplining was a blast. So if you take it for what it is you will have a good time but if you need every thing to be perfect I would look else where.

    Don't recommend

Floors of the rooms and shower are dirty. Rooms are dark and small. Beds are small... full size, not queen. Breakfast is not good. Yard maintenance workers work during prime afternoon time so it's super loud. Staff is not friendly.

    6 Nights at Lajitas

My wife and I spent 6 nights at Lajitas Golf Resort in one of the "Officer's Quarters" Junior Suites. We spent the first night sleeping on a mattress that was broken down and was like sleeping in a fish bowl. It clearly should have been changed out long before we got there. The next morning we went to the front desk and complained about the poor quality of the mattress. To their credit, the resort was very apologetic and accommodating and ensured us that either a new room would be provided; or, a new mattress would be installed. The resort was booked; so, they ended up swapping out our mattress with a new one, which made our stay much better. However, I would say, that when you're spending over $200/night, one should expect to have a great quality mattress...theirs being too soft for our preference. And what about a microwave? You can't put a microwave in one of your premium rooms? Anyway, that pretty much sums up our complaints. Now for what we liked, and there is much to like about this resort. The food...we had some pretty good food here at Lajitas, with the exception of one dinner we had on a very busy night in the "Thirsty Goat Saloon". I had some very mediocre fajitas, and my wife had some enchiladas that topped the "grease charts" with very little filling. Interestingly enough; my wife had had the same fajitas in the restaurant a few nights earlier, and they were very good....?? Other than that, we had great breakfasts, lunches, and dinners on the patio with some wonderful ambiance and good service. We loved the golf course. Beautiful course with very interesting play, but definitely one of the fastest courses I've ever been on. We did the two hour sunset horseback ride and were treated to a nice ride in the desert with a good wrangler and an incredible sunset. We actually had several eye-popping sunsets from our front porch. We also did the Quicksilver Zipline Tour. Great staff that provided us with a very fun adventure zipping through Quiet Canyon. This resort is a hike to get to, but there is a lot to do and see with Big Bend National and State Parks surrounding the resort. Make sure you do the "river' drive up towards Presidio. All-in-all, we really enjoyed our stay. With a few tweeks, I could give the resort a 4-Star rating.
