Esperamos volver!

Big room and lovely poolWhen we landed at the island of Koh Yao, we got into a pickup with lots of the other travelers and we were taken to Laguna Villas and the drive was about 15-20 minutes. Check in was fast and we were taken to our bungalow (number 9) just by the pool. The bungalow was larger than expected with a small garden and patio with a couple of sunbeds. Entering the bungalow, we first came into a lounge with a few chairs and sofa around a table but also chairs around a small dining room table. There was a small kitchen with a fridge we got 4 small bottles of water complimentary each day. The lounge had lots of windows and large sections that could be opened. The lounge and bedroom were sprinkled with beautiful frangipani flowers from the trees that were growing in the garden. Amenities included flashlights to use at night, umbrellas, mosquito repellent to use in the room etc. A door led into the bedroom and the bed was of decent size. The bed was a bit on the firm side and the pillows were uncomfortably firm compared to what Im used to. There was a small TV with lots of channels and a good picture. The internet worked fine with just a password and gave super-fast internet I think it was at least a 100/100 mbps line. The wardrobe included a few hangers but I would have liked to see an iron and ironing board. The safe was quite small but worked fine. The bathroom was very stylish with two sinks and a toilet the tiles and craftsmanship was quite excellent and gave this bathroom a luxurious feel. A new door led out to a small area and it contained an outdoor shower area. This was quite lovely apart from one day when taking a shower during a rain storm it felt a bit cold taking a shower outside during this. The pool was huge and when I jumped in, I was surprised that it was salt water and that it was 2 meters deep. There were not many other guests at the hotel so most of the time when I was in the pool, I was in alone. There were a few sunbeds around the pool but no bar or room service. Across the road, we had access to the beach. The beach looks pretty at high tide but appears very rocky at low tide. For some reason, breakfast was at Green Café and not at VL Restaurant that seemed to be the hotel restaurant. But the small café served a good breakfast served in a covered outside area and there was an option of eggs, croissant/toast, fruit, yogurt or Thai style breakfast. The Green café was also a convenience store with a small selection of things that you might need including beer starting at 55 Baht (1,8 USD) for a bottle of Chang. Location of the hotel is good as there does not seem to be a defined area where stuff is happening. There are some restaurants and bars within walking distance and if you dont want to walk you can rent a scooter (with or without sidecar) from the hotel to get around. Conclusion: all in all a lovely hotel the room was huge and well laid out. The atmosphere is relaxed with the pool and garden where butterflies and birds are enjoying the flowering trees and bushes. We stayed at this island in July at this is both rainy season and low season. Due to this it was very quiet at both the hotel and on the island with several restaurants being closed for the season and with restaurants having limited menus. But the hotel and pool was excellent and provided a lovely relaxing stay.

Females beware! Not Thai, owned by Russian. Booked a 2 bed villa, the owner Dimitri didnt want to give it to us. He made excuses such as there was a nearby construction area and fibre glass was falling from the air con that would take 10 days to fix. He tried to put my friend and I in his house and said it was an upgrade - Creepy. We felt uncomfortable and demanded to see the room we had paid for. He tried to insist that he take only one of us to see the villa on his motorbike but we refused to be split up. When we arrived there the air con was fine and the place unprepared. We demanded to have that villa as we had paid for it but had to wait 45 mins at the beach for him to set it up. Front door didnt lock, gaps in walls where people can see and come inside. He tried to assure us it was safe. Ridiculous security. He clearly was not happy about this and to get us back he cut off our wifi on the last day so we had no internet, tv or radio. He knew we were celebrating my 40th birthday.

Laguna Villas (VL-Resort) Ko Yao Noi... A Paradise or Nightmare! We booked the Eva Villa from 21st to the 24th Dec19. The villa was beautiful with two bedrooms with attached bathrooms and an external showers; a common sitting area and a nice pool. However, by the 23rd morning our happiness was shattered. Our money amounting to approximately USD 900 in Thai Baht was stolen from both the bedrooms on the 22nd night / 23rd morning while we were asleep. Upon investigation, a number of skeletons tumbled out regarding the villa and the management. On checking, we found that one glass door in each bedroom had been deliberately left unlatched behind curtains after cleaning of the villa on the 22nd. These curtains were never drawn by us. On complaining, no senior manager called on us and finally the police were called. The receptionist confirmed that the villa was always locked and secured after cleaning. This was clearly not the case. None of the safes provided in the two bedrooms were in working condition. Twice, upon using the safe, we were unable to open it and had to call reception to physically open the safe for us. Finally, Eva Villa had no CCTV coverage of its surroundings and hence made a perfect target for unlawful intrusion and theft. A strong word of warning to prospective visitors.... Make certain: * That the safes are working *RECHECK and secure every possible window and door latch EACH time you enter the villa and before turning in. *Dont expect the Villa management to help you in any way whatsoever! *Book at your own peril!!!

Quiet and beautifulWe stayed here from 6 till 11 December 2019. This is a rather small and quiet hotel with 8 villas around a beautiful swimming pool with salty water. Very spacious rooms with separate bedroom and bathroom and an outdoor shower. Very well cleaned and nice staff. The beach is on the other side of the road and is quiet and lovely in the shade of the trees and with a nice sea wind. Breakfast (included) is served in a small coffee shop 50meters next to the hotel and you get coupons for it. The breakfast is very good and enough choices and quantity. Diner you can have in the several nearby restaurants at walking distance. Koh Yao Noi is still an unspoiled island without the high buildings that you encounter on Phuket. Here you can enjoy the real local life. It is nice to rent a bike or motorbike (via the hotel or elsewhere) and you can easily explore the island in a day. Boat trips can also be undertaken and they are definitely worthwhile.
