Location, location, location!Just returned from a fantastic week's holiday. L'Arollaie is definitely above average for French apartments. We were four people in an apartment for eight and any more would have been a push, mainly because there were two bedrooms with small double beds, so we used the third room (bunks) and the sofa bed. Main criticism is just one toilet! With a bit of imagination they could have put another one in. Also lack of comfortable seating - just the sofa bed - in the living area. The central lounge was supposed to have an open fire, but it was never lit, and the area was a bit soul-less. We didn't get much noise from other apartments, but it was a quiet week. Would certainly recommend L'Arollaie, not least because of its location immediately opposite the fast-moving Plan Peisey 6 man chair and the Vanoise. Fabulous views from the apartment across the valley. Only a few minutes walk to hire equipment and to the patisserie for the morning bread run to loosen the legs, although you can order it at reception. Restaurants nearby are ok - the Solan (they do take-away) or the Vanoise Hotel - or ten minutes into Vallandry to Le Refuge Pizzeria. The local Sherpa in Vallandry is well stocked. The snow and weather were absolutely fantastic and no crowds or lift queues even at the renowned bottlenecks. They seem to be investing in new lifts in the whole Paradiski area - we didn't go on a button lift all week!! Mountain restaurants are improving, certainly on the La Plagne side. All in all, the location makes up for the downside.

Arollaie could do betterThe location of the apartment is great, just opposite the Plan-Peisey chair-lift. However that was about all this place has going for it. The lounge closed at 8pm every night, so if you wanted to meet up and chill with friends you either had to go out, even if you didn't feel like it, or have a mass of people in your room. Rooms were average. Unfortunately the staff attitude and level of service totally let the place down. We had a transfer at 9pm and was asked to leave the building at 8pm, so they could close the lounge and reception area. When we complained about having to wait outside for an hour we were told it was not their problem!! Fantastic customer service Groupe Lagrange! Also just as a warning you are expected to clean the windows (among other unreasonable requests) before leaving, or you lose your deposit. I can understand losing a deposit for breakages etc, but for not cleaning the windows? That is ridiculous! I have never experienced this in the past and I've stayed in a few self catered apartments/Villas before. Needless to say I will not be staying there again and would not recommend it.

Such a disappointmentThe pictures from the website do not represent the true image; both the rooms and the pool has been made to look very spacious and large but really the pool comes up to your hips and is half the size of the picture(the pool is freezing), the rooms are very small and it says to fit 6 when it hardly fit 5. We turned up and our bath plug was broken so we couldn't have a bath, we told the manager and still after 7 days it was not fixed. Also what was ridiculous was all the facilities shut at 7.30/8 and was not open on a Saturday so if you are travelling for a skiing holiday, the times you want to use the facilities you can't, also the front door also is double locked at 8 so therefore you have to go round the back and up loads of flights of stairs to get to the main road, and also when checking out you cannot use the front door so you have to carry all your luggage up these flights of stairs. Also when leaving you are expected to leave the room tidy which is fair enough but they expect stuff like clean windows but do not give you cleaning supplies the con is you either pay for supplies or pay for a cleaner which is ridiculous amounts of money. The websites says free wifi, it's not! It's 25 euros for wifi on 3 devices for a week, we payed for the wifi but the wifi was extremely poor!

Fantastic ski location and comfortable self catering apartments. We stayed in a 3 bedroom apartment for the February half term. The other reviews I had read indicated this wouldn't be great, but for the price charged this is a really good quality apartment block which has a fantastic location adjacent to the main gondola to La Plagne and ski lifts into Les Arcs. I would highly recommend staying here if you are looking for a fantastic ski location with all the required facilities. Below I have highlighted some key points; 1. The location is absolutely perfect and only 100 metres from the ski lift. 2. The ski hire shop is on the opposite side of the road. 3. The apartments are warm and comfortable - we chose a 3 bed for 5 of us and this was perfect. 4. The apartment had a hob, microwave and dishwasher - what else do you need? 5. Each apartment has a ski boot cupboard in the locker room which was well located. 6. As a self catering place be prepared to bring your own food etc or buy locally from the Sherpa supermarket. 7. Parking is free. I have read all of the other negative views and I can understand some of the points (e.g. the pool is small) but for the price charged and with the great location this is a great choice for a skiing holiday! Highly recommend a visit!

Very close to the ski lift, rooms with gorgeous view. reasonable priced. Sauna & hamam available.- Breakfast The hotel orders breakfast for the guests. The croisants and bread are very good. Prices seem ok. - kitchen The mini kitchen provided was very basic. Good enough for 6 men to make some bacon and eggs. Don't expect too much. - Bathroom The Shower worked, water was warm. There was a flow of cold air, but yea that's ok. - Sleeping room The sheets were clean, the covers warm. The beds were big enough. Matresses were quite hard. Everything as expected. - Reception The reception is not always open. don't expect to be helped outside of these hours unless explicitely agreed. Not very practical (from 8 to 20). Because of this we missed to order bread once and did not achieve to visit the sauna/hamam. - amenities There is a sauna and a hamam (and a pool). But we failed to visit those.
