Very very tiredWe were in Pacific Harbour for a friends 70th which was being held at the Lagoon so we thought we would stay there. However on arrival and inspecting the rooms we changed our minds. The Lagoon is well past its use by date, we found the room to be dark and dreary, the water from the sink was gushing out of the bottom of the tap so you couldn't fill the jug. One of the few lights blew as soon as it was turned on. The location of the resort is out on a limb so you have a 3 k walk to any shops or other facilities. All in all very depressing even for the short time we were to be there so we moved to another resort.

This should be a Condemned Property. Not Safe, AbandonedIt is shocking that they let this place remain open. When you arrive you think it is some kind of sick joke or scary movie. The dining room looks like something out of a vampire movie - with sheets covering chairs, no staff, no food, no electricity. There are no staff at check-in. There is the security guard who walks from his post to let you in. There is nothing here that is functioning except the rooms. And they look like something from the 1970s. There are open wires, water damage, electrical risks everywhere. And the place is empty. Strange to say the least!

Staff retreatWe decided to hold our staff retreat at the Lagoon Resort last week. The retreat was excellent and we had a great time. More on that later. Lagoon Resort is wrongly names (for now) as it does not have a lagoon and it is not a resort. Built by a Scottish guy who was promised a Casino license it must had been a wonderful, luxury, and very affluent place in the 80's. The casino license never came and the guy sold the Property to Yatu Lau investments somewhere in early 90's. It appears since then there has been very little maintenance on the Property and it has been left to deteriorate. The place is very dirty, facilities are poor, and staffs have zero customer service. The positive thing which happened was that we had decided to cook all our food in the penthouse kitchen and brought our one drinks. The swimming pool is not properly filtered so we decided to go to the Pearl Resort which has a great swimming pool. The rooms were ok but with very old (as mentioned earlier) fixtures. Overall the resort has a haunting look. Lagoon Resort is in a great location and with change of management can do wonders. But for now, this place is not recommended at all as the private villa accommodation in the same vicinity are much better. This is one place which is not recommended at all.

Budget stay in Pacific HarbourStayed at the Lagoon Resort on 28 and 29 January 2020 and paid FJD$125 per night for two adults and a 14-year-old in a large room with a queen bed, single bed, private bathroom, towels, fridge, air conditioning, balcony, TV with two channels, and a lounge. All items and furnishings in the room were dated and probably at least a few decades old. Expect a few issues with the room - water pressure, keeping the fridge shut with a chair, and thin mattresses. It's a large old hotel with a pool and lawn area overlooking the adjacent river and lagoon. About a 15-minute walk from central Pacific Harbour (take a short cut through the golf course), or FJD$3.50 in a taxi. Expect some surprises but recommended for a cheap stay in the Pacific Harbour area.
