Great locationHakodate is quite a small town but the main touristy places were within reach near the hotel or accessible by tram. Love that the hotel was walking distance from the seafood market and the Redbrick Warehouse shopping area. It was also nearby the ropeway to Mt. Hakodate. The room was pretty small. I wasn't expecting it to be large but it was small to an extent that the 'bathroom' was just a small cubicle with a toilet and shower area (separated) and the sink was in the room. We had a small suitcase and a medium suitcase but they couldnt really be opened together in the room without it blocking the corridor to the door. The bed was right next to the window and whoever slept near the window could feel a cool breeze from the window. Despite the size of the room, the bed was comfortable and the room was cozy enough for the night's stay. There was a coffee bean grinder (and beans provided) and also 2 packs of free popcorn which seemed to be a popular snack for tourists to buy. A basket of towel and clothes to wear to the rooftop onsen was provided in the room. The onsen was separated into male and female baths each with outdoor and indoor baths. The female changing room was huge with vanity tables and vinegar drinks which you can dispense to drink as you wish. There were lots of people using the onsen but it doesnt seem overcrowded as there were still space for you to sit whether in the pools or the shower area. The indoor area had 2 indoor baths and one cold water bath while the outdoor area had one large bath and 3 small tubs. It was snowing while I was there so enjoying a hot soak while feeling the snowfall was a very lovely experience. The outdoor area was sheltered but the wind did blow the snow into the pool. After the hot bath, we could cool off with the ice lollies back out in the common area which could be enjoyed while looking out at the beautiful view. Such a good idea, especially if you had to wait for a partner to finish. The breakfast didn't disappoint! Such a variety of food to choose from, even unlimited crab roes! The notices say that the restaurant gets busy from 8am onwards so we went at 7:30am and there was already a long queue to get in (but it wasnt a long wait). It turns out that if you were to arrive at 9am for breakfast (that was when we left) the queues would be much shorter and there would still be enough food.

A new experienceA new experience for a British visitor, a Japanese onsen hotel, where visitors can enjoy bathing in the hot thermal pools. Bathing is naked and there are a number of customs to observe! The hotel is special and different, the bedrooms are smaller but very well equipped with attention to small details, for example coffee beans and coffee grinder! And of course special robes to wear to go to the pools! Next morning a superb treat, the best breakfast buffet in Japan!! Its official and I can highly recommend it!!

Nice stay for couplesLocated near the popular sightseeing center at Hakodate Bay. La vista is one of the famous hotel with it rank number one buffet breakfast in town. It offer all you can eat sashimi Ika, shrimp, flying roe as well as other Japanese /western style breakfast,,,plus the make in Hokkaido milk and pudding. On the top floor of the hotel, is onsen place that you can see night view of Hokkaido Bay.

I guess I don't have a choice.I did a bullet trip at the end of the year. The atmosphere and facilities of the hotel are pleasant. The SPA is spacious and relaxing. Towels are always available in the SPA. I would recommend the Japanese and Western style rooms. The room is a little bit bigger than I expected. However, the massage service on the second floor is very Poor and I do not recommend it. I want my money back.!!!! It's not worth it. I pointed out the problem to the front desk, but they said, "It's outsourced. It's a subcontractor. hahaha.... I was disappointed that the hotel didn't seem to take the problem into their own hands. I also asked the front desk to arrange a taxi for the next day's sightseeing, but they said they didn't have one. I had no choice but to look for a brochure behind the front desk and found one, so I arranged it myself. Too bad.
