  Amazing hotel

  We spent our second summer holiday in this hotel and we will definitely return. The hotel is the great place for relaxing quiet holiday away from stress. The pool with thermal water is the great place to chill after "busy" day on a beach. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, cleaned every day to the highest standard. Food is amazing, served on terrace with sea views, you will get excellent value for money. The hotel also has spa and beauty treatments available, which are great. The staff are very helpful and extremely polite and friendly. I cannot recommend this place enough.

  Lovely hotel great location

  This hotel represents great value for money. We stayed five nights and found the staff to be very friendly and exceptionally efficient. The location is perfect being a short walk from shops and restaurants as well as the port where you can get some great value trips. One of the best elements of this hotel is the roof top restaurant which gives you a marvellous panoramic view over the sea. I have to say we were a little sceptical about the offer of upgrading to an evening meal for a very reasonable price, but wow was it worth it lovely food and brilliant service, well worth it. The feel of this hotel is that you are staying as a guest in someones home. Just excellent value for money in a great location.

  Mismatch between state of hotel and staff attitude

  This hotel is a bit outdated. Our room was not in a very good state and it smells really musty (but that could also be because of the therme). I could deal with that, but the attittude of the staff is so not in line with the state of the hotel. From the moment you enter you get the feeling you entered a very formal and stiff 5 star hotel, where you actually do not belong. Service is very, very old-fashioned and caters towards an elderly audience I think who may like the feeling that they are staying somewhere very luxuruous (while in fact they are not). The gardens are absolutely lovely and so is the therme. It is really a little oasis in the middle of tacky and touristy Ischia Porto. But the state of the hotel building does not match at all with the lovely garden grounds. If you look closely it is mostly forlorn glory We (a couple in our thirties) got the constant feeling we were not good enough for this hotel. Odd, since we stayed in many true 5 star hotels where the atmosphere was a lot more laid-back. Here the men are all dressed in suits, even at the breakfast. Which would lead you to expect an excellent high class breakfast, but in fact it is not. It is okay at most. Really our stay was fine, but I think if the staff would just chill and be a little bit less formal and stiff, you accept the state of the hotel easier. Now it is just a mismatch. Our stay was fine and I am not saying you should not stay here, but if you are not in your seventies....I would try to go somewhere else!

  Like stepping back in time

  Such a peaceful and pleasant experience. This hotel is like stepping back in time. All the staff seem to know who you are, are smartly dressed and delightful to deal with. The barman in particular was such a lovely man and impeccably turned out. The pool and surrounding garden are so relaxing. The view for the hotel restaurant is spectacular and it is a wonderful place to have breakfast (which was included) and dinner (which as incredibly reasonable). The room itself was a little small and tired but the bed was large and comfortable. Overall would definitely recommend. So quite and such a central location. They dont accept Amex which was frustrating.

  Ok but some issues

  The garden of Hotel La Villarosa is small but lovely and provides some shelter from the hot sun, and the pool is very pleasant. The free entry to the beach and the thermal spa is also a great benefit. The hotel dates from a different era and as some guests declared has not changed over many years, some people may like this and while the rooms are clean and the bathrooms have been refurbished there was a damp smell at the entrance hall and within our room. The dining room was pleasantly located on the roof terrace and the breakfast was OK but the coffee was memorable for all the wrong reasons, I can still taste it a month later. Emergency exit signs, route maps and fire extinguishers were notable by their absence. The staff were friendly and helpful.
