  This is a lovely comfortable hotel but with bar service straight out of Faulty Towers

  This is a lovely heritage hotel built in the early twentieth century with strong Art Deco overtones. There had been a sensitive restoration in the beautiful room we occupied which had tasteful modern decor but retained some of the original features - for example a wonderful old dresser. The bathroom was pristine and completely functional. They pride themselves on their top class restaurant and it is true the food is exquisite but few people want to eat a meal of that size and quality every evening and there is not even a bar food alternative. Given that it is so faraway from other options this is a huge disadvantage. The bar service is straight out of Faulty Towers with no one seemly dedicated to the task; so getting a drink is a marathon event. However, it must be said that the breakfast staff were delightful and effective.

  Lovely chalet break

  We stayed in Passiflore, one of the chalets on the hotel site. The setting is very peaceful, surrounded by greenery and trees. The chalet consisted of one upstairs bedroom (twin, with a sink and a separate small toilet room next door), two downstairs bedrooms (both double, one with bath/shower, one with walk-in shower) and a living area. All of the bedrooms were air conditioned. The living area had a kitchen section with a fridge (and small freezer compartment), two-ring electric hob, crockery, cutlery and kitchen sink. We self-catered during our stay and found the basic facilities fine for the 5 of us. There was a large TV in the living area, chairs and sofa and free Wifi available. There is a room safe. There is a patio section to the rear with loungers and outdoor table/chairs, ideal for eating outside or just relaxing (or watching the pair of resident chickens wandering around!) The chalet was kept clean and tidy daily by the staff. The furniture is obviously old but has much character. Some minor repairs are needed, but actually added to the charm of the place. There is a small children's play area in the garden with swings, climbing frame and a slide. There is plenty of garden space for children to run in. The reception staff were very helpful and booked a taxi for us when we left at the end of our stay. The free funicular railway into Evian town centre is just a short walk away from the hotel; there is a petit-Casino market, bakery, pharmacy and pizza takeaway in the opposite direction.

  Quiet break

  We stayed in Chalet Passiflore in the grounds of the hotel. It was charming and quiet and close to the pool and tennis court. The beds were very comfortable and there was a small kitchenette with fridge, hob and sink. The stairs to the upstairs win room were very steep so our 3 year old had a double bed and my husband and I had the twin room. The air conditioning was very welcome as it was hot when we stayed. The double rooms each had a shower or bath, a Jack and Jill sink and a toilet. There was a sink and toilet upstairs. It feels like the chalet has had some recent upgrades but much of the furniture looks old which adds to the charm but there are many things in need of slight repair and there only a 2 seater sofa and 2 armchairs for a 6 bedded chalet. The staff were all very helpful and did their best to speak English if we struggled and the cleaning staff were very good. We did not use the restaurant but the food looked very good when we walked past. The grounds were very relaxing, there were patio areas outside the chalet and grass with fruit trees and a couple of free range chickens. The free funicular to Evian was a short walk down a slope and the nearest shops and a pizza takeaway were a short walk past the equestrian centre. In short, a relaxing and charming chalet with a few shabby bits.

  Great place for a summer vacation - highly recommended

  We had a wonderful family vacation here in August. The hotel is a beautiful old building but modern inside, the staff are very helpful and there is a tonne to do in the surrounding area. We will be back!!

  For a lovely meal in your room during this period it's a must

  We had not been here in 30 years and chose the same chalet Myosotis, that sleeps 6. The room service meal was excellent very reasonable. They also offer several fine wines at store prices, a real gift! During this period it's your chance for a gourmet getaway. Absolutely charming! Very nice staff....
