    What a total joke...

Lets start from the positive thing, and there is only one, close to the Clotes lift. Just a three minute walk. Very steep hill up to the hotel but still, very close. The negative things, I have chosen to list them as follows: * The ski cellar, or should I say meatlocker. As you leave your wet skiboots on the non-heated sticks, the mornong after they are not only cold but still wet due to the condensation from thr wet/warm boots on cold metal stick. Extremely small area making most guests waliking up and down the stairs in their ski boots, violating the no ski boot rule in the hotel, noisy. * Walking up the stairs from reception to first floor there is an awful smell of sewage. * The rooms are very tiny, maybe suitable for young children or very small italians. Not three well grown scandinavians with three large suitcases. No place to dry wet clothes or even place the clothes for easy access. Must keep in suitcase. The water heated radiators cannot be reduced in heat even with minimum strength on the switch. You could brand cattle with that radiator. The shower cabin is so small, you can hardly move around without accidently turn the waterhandle from normal heat to either freezing cold or boiling warm. Staying right above the hotel entranve, the door slams so hard that it sends shakings upto the room. * With half board, you would expect breakfast with a normal variety of bread, juice and coffee served from a coffee can. Not here. One huge loaf of bread, ham or cheese (factory cut slices) and coffee from a machine usually found at gas stations in sub-sahara Africa. They soon run out of glasses but replace with plastic cups. No scrambled eggs, no bacon, no toast, no hot chocolate for the kids. No vegetables like cucumber or tomatoes. The dinner is somewhat below average, but acceptable. * The staff. Well, they do their job, not more. Shouting to each other across the restaurant full of guests is perhaps part of italian charm, I dont know, but it is not for me. Seen more civilized behavior in other italian resturants.

    Steer Clear

I recently stayed at the Hotel Terrazza and I definitely wouldnt go back. First things first, you have to walk up a very steep hill to reach the hotel. If you have any breathing problems this is not suitable at all. The reception bores some stained couches. The radiators in the rooms are extremely hot to touch and therefore heat up the room to an unbearable temperature. The only way I could think to resolve this was to leave the first balcony door open a little as I was travelling the folks staying either side of me. The furniture was old and the carpet hadnt been hoovered in weeks, months, years??? The meals were somewhat appalling. The breakfast consisted of two type of cereals and croissants, slices of meat and some fruit. The cereal was extremely dry but edible and I could say the same about the croissants. The evening meals were disappointing. Everything looked like slop and had been thrown together in a mad dash. There was a set menu of three courses and no leeway whatsoever. The white fish was predominantly black and the potatoes were soggy. If you find yourself in the same position as myself there is a lovely pizza place called Pizza House a few minutes down the road which sells pizza at a reasonable price and is delicious. Probably the only positive was the location as it was only a minute or two into town and a few minutes to the slopes. Loved Sauze dOulx though would avoid Hotel Terrazza most definitely.

    Cheap and cheerful

If you want a higher end hotel you will need to pay more, if you want a basic hotel close to the lifts and the centre of town then this place is fine. I stayed here with friends and the rooms are basic but clean, beds are a bit hard and the shower is tiny. Breakfast is very basic but we paid around £230 for a room for 3 nights which in the centre of Sauze and with access to all restaurants it was fine. If it is a higher end hotel you want then look elsewhere, if it is a basic hotel near ski lifts and town then this hotel is fine. Staff where friendly and helpful as well.

Nice clean friendly value for money hotel

After reading some of the negative reviews for this hotel I was wondering what I had booked. On arrival I was pleasantly surprised. This hotel is in a great location, close to lift and village. There is rather a steep slope up to the hotel but if you are fit enough to ski then this slope should not be a problem. The rooms are reasonably small but more than enough for me and my partner. Great balcony and mountain views. Our room on arrival was immaculately clean and was cleaned daily for us with an abundance of fresh towels. Breakfast I found personally fine. Buffet style with meat, cheese ,rolls, cakes ,cereals ,yogurts and hot and cold drinks. Theres no hot option apart from eggs (which were delicious) The hotel staff are all so very friendly and helpful and more than happy to help you with any questions. Ive stayed in a lot of hotels in different resorts and paid a lot more for a lot less. I think bad reviews have been written by people who want to pay very little but expect 5star service. If you are looking for clean basic friendly accommodation in a great location then I would recommend this hotel
