Nice stay but manager should learn English

The hotel is ok. Beds are ok and rooms are a bit oldfashioned but the quality was good. The sisters did a good job, friendly. The food was OK : breakfast was simple but good value, and the half board was ok. Special thanks to their top waiter. He is a top man and always motivated. The garden and childrens playground is perfect. The pool is great. It was a good stay. But there was one thing very annoying. The manager never ever said a word to us, not even a hello or goodday. No problem if he wants to keep the relationshop strictly business but he was always talking to the Italian guests. I think it was because he doesn't speek a word English and is not interested in non-English visitors. That can be a tactic, but please don't take in non-English customers then. If you want to be open for international customers, the least thing the manager can do is learn some words English en be polite to the non-Italian guests. We felt welcome by the sisters but definitely not by the hotel manager.

    End of season relaxing break

We stayed at Le Pleiadi in the 3rd week of September and had a really lovely week's holiday. The hotel itself is well maintained, has lovely grounds, a good swimming pool and sun lounger area, the staff are friendly and welcoming and the rooms may be seen by some as a little dated but they are clean, comfortable and well looked after. As we were there late in the session our room was upgraded to have a pool and sea view and for us it was absolutely perfect. Breakfast offers a good range of continental food with the option to order freshly cooked eggs, you just have to ask. The hotel offers bike hire, the bikes themselves don't have gears but don't let that put you off as it's very flat and the area is well provisioned with bicycle lanes. It take 5-10 mins max walk to the sea front and if off session we were paying 20 euros per day for sunbeds and umbrella. It's a sandy beach, well looked after, the water is clean and the is very shallow for quite a long way. Ask at reception and they'll advise which beach (Bagno) to go to and what prices they charge. In the local vicinity, no further that a 5-10 walk there is are a range of restaurants, a super market and couple of lovely grocers/delis where you can get fresh fruit and takeaway lunches, 2 ice cream shops, a pharmacy and then some general shops. It takes about 30 mins to walk into central Forte dei Marmi and we went there twice but we were well serviced with all the options local to the hotel. There were a lot of mosquitoes which the hotel and every place we went to were trying to combat but this was due to continuing hot weather they were having and not something that hotel could control - however it's worth packing some extra protection,

    Relaxing week

We spent a very relaxing week at this hotel. Our room had a terrace which was furnished with table and chairs and two loungers which we were very pleased to make use of especially when the sun went down. Our room was very comfortable and the bathroom with shower was an excellent size. We had a couple of little problems but they were dealt with extremely swiftly. Breakfast on the terrace had an impressive selection including local cakes and pastries which were all delicious. Everything about this hotel is very well kept, the pool area was swept every morning and the gardens were constantly being tended. All the staff, from the owner who collected us from the station to the housekeeping ladies were very friendly and helpful, a special mention must go to the waitress who remained cheerful from breakfast to dinner time and was very paitent when advising on the menu for lunch and dinner which are available for those who are staying on a bed and breakfast basis. All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.

    Great Family Run Hotel

This is a great small hotel with a wonderful outside dining area overlooking the garden, pool with Jacuzzi. The hotel also has a small play area near the pool in a beautiful garden setting so great for families with small children. The staff were very pleasant and always accommodating. The food was nice and breakfast had plenty of options on the buffet. Although scrambled eggs are included if you want an omelet that's extra... which was very strange. They also struggled to provide a ''cold'' beer... which was a shame when it was 30 degrees outside. The only negative was the rooms... they are clean but very simple and dated and for sure in need of modernizing. Nevertheless we had a great stay and I highly recommend this hotel. We would definitely return.

    A very friendly hotel

We stayed for 10 days early in September on a bed and breakfast basis and enjoyed a very interesting and relaxing holiday. The hotel was built in 1963 and now stands in sizeable well kept grounds with mature pine trees offering shade. There is a very well equipped children's play area. An outdoor pool with sun loungers and changing facility is kept spotlessly clean. We stayed in a 3rd floor room with a wonderful terrace providing panoramic views towards the Alpine range of mountains. The room was clean and well maintained and the washroom with shower was to a good size and well equipped. It took us a week to find the only English speaking TV programme - CNN News! The breakfasts were always well presented in buffet style with a very good selection to choose from. Surprisingly the restaurant opens at 20.00hrs which was too late for us, so we mostly ate at a pizza bar just 50m up the road that opened at 17.30. Without exception the staff were extremely helpful and polite. Special mention goes to Abramo who ferried us to the railway station and collected us as we visited Florence, Lucca and Pisa on separate days by train. He sorted us out with train tickets from the non-English speaking lady lurking in a small room off the platform! The railway station is about 3 miles from the hotel and the local taxis service is not particularly reliable. The hotel offers a service to and from the station that is definitely advised and recommended. We once walked into Forte dei Marmi centre, but it took us 35 minutes and did not return as we were unimpressed. There are good beaches about 10 minutes away on foot and reception can advise on preferences. There are also many interesting shops and restaurants in about the same proximity. We think hiring a car is almost an essential if you want to explore. If you just want the beach or the pool Le Pleiadi takes some beating.
