  Instalaciones obsoletas

  El hotel está muy buen ubicado y está limpio pero las instalaciones están completamente obsoletas. Cogimos una habitación normal y tuvimos que cambiar a una superior porque además de no tener ascensor hacia un calor insoportable . No tienen ni ascensor ni ningún tipo de refrigeración. Muy mal las instalaciones

  Dreadful dining experience

  We ate as a group at this restaurant and it truly ruined our evening. Service was incredibly slow. Vegetables had run out. Food was undercooked. Portion sizes were shockingly small for the price and service was beligerent at best. When we complained about the problems we experienced with all four meals, we were met with hostility. Avoid at all costs.

  Shocking service, dreadful food, poor value

  We booked this restaurant for 4. Firstly it took 25minutes before we could order. 2 people in our party told that there were no vegetables left for their cod & little legumes dish. Only potatos on offer. Another person ordered duck well done and it arrived virtually raw and browned on the outside. The fourth person was looking forward to skate wing with potato. The portion was small with uncooked potato. The dish was sent back. A few minutes later she was served the same plate of food. Not a new dish as you would expect. The potato was STILL raw. The staff totally unapologetic and unsympathetic. It ruined our evening. Strongly advise to give the rude staff and poor cuisine at La Regence in Cherbourg a miss. Go to the place next door!! skate with raw potato

  Can't help loving the place....t

  The whole length of the Quai de Coligny consists of 'shoulder to shoulder' or, as the French say 'elbow to elbow' restaurants. We have only tried Le Vauban (very good) and La Régence, and we go back a few years..If we find somewhere we like, we find it difficult to spread our wings and try other places just for the sake of novelty. We are surprised at some of the negative critiques of La Régence. We LIKE La Régence - great atmosphere - SO French and we have always had a warm welcome and good service. So - in Cherbourg we head for La Régence. This time we wanted a light meal so chose an 'assiette de fruits de mer' each - oysters, whelks, prawns, shrimps, clams and a langoustine - as pretty a picture on the plate as you could imagine. This is what you come to France for .In London it would be five times more expensive. With a half bottle of Sancerre and a coffee the bill came to 52.80 (£47). Our waiter, Jourdan, was shy but attentive. We will go back.

  Fantastic stay and fantastic food

  We were spending a weekend in Normandy with a friend and after looking at the Logis de France website (I'm a huge fan of Logis hotels as I'm sure I've mentioned in other reviews :) ) we settled on the "Regence" - especially as they were offering a "Gourmet package" which included dinner, bed and breakfast. There's ample parking available to the rear of the hotel, which is free after around 6pm until 8 the following morning. We had two rooms, and ours was a "Superior" room (Room 3 I think) which had a really comfortable bed, fantastic views over the harbour outside and also a very good Jacuzzi bath. The highlight of our stay was the food in the restaurant. With the package we'd booked we had a 3 course dinner included, and could essentially choose anything we liked from the menu. The food was simply divine, the terrine for starter was great and the steak was amazing. Desserts very tasty too. The restaurant was very popular on the Saturday night we visited with potential customers being turned away as every table was taken - which is always a good indication. Only slight surprise was the wine list which felt a little bit limited, although we still had an excellent Bordeaux and the 25 year old calvados after certainly hit the spot. The owners and staff were really friendly and welcoming and did everything to make us feel at home. We'll certainly be returning, had a great time and can recommend without hesitation.
