    Important Pros and Cons

We spent one night here. It is a very nice, newly renovated hotel that almost lives up to its 3 stars. Pros: Exceptionally clean, first class renovation, very nice amenities (shampoo, slippers, hair dryer, tooth brushes, shoe polish), high quality towels, very comfortable beds, large rooms, a pleasant welcome and an accommodating staff, private parking at no extra cost. Cons: There is no internet access. There is no lift. The are stairs to climb and descend to get into the hotel and more stairs to get to the rooms. The stairs to the bedrooms are deeply worn and uneven, and the bedroom floors have significant dips and rises that are hard to see. The air conditioning unit has no thermostatic or fan controls. Its on/off switch is in a fuse box and would be hard to find without being shown. The thermostat's default is set very high and just as the room begins to cool, the cooling system switches off, continues to blow but does not cool again until the room heats up. The on/off sound of the cooling system and the down/up temperature were enough to wake us again and again throughout the night. Lastly, we returned to our room late at night to the strong smell of sewage. The smell was coming from somewhere in the room as all windows were closed tightly. We do not recommend this hotel to anyone who has ambulatory/stability problems, difficulty climbing stairs or are sensitive to heat. Some of the cons listed above can easily be corrected (lack of internet, air conditioning setting). Others may not (uneven floors, source of sewage odor). But as possible corrections are made, this may become a fine stop for persons who have no ambulatory difficulties.

La Margelle: the perfect place to stay in Provence

La Margelle is close to being perfect: it is located on small square in Pernes-les-Fontaines, and the building holds history and breaths all the charms of Provence. The staff's hospitality is something you feel from the very first second you enter. The garden makes your morning breakfast a wonderful experience -- of taste and serenity. It is worth mentioning the quality of the beds -- makes your night as if you spent it with Morphée. Nomad travellers will only miss a tiny thing (but is it important or only superficial?) -- wifi.

    A gem in Provence

I was there last weekend with my step-dad, we booked a twin room (room #2). We were very pleased with the settings, the room as well as with the service. Every single person working there was very kind and helpful. The beds were very comfy and I slept soundly. Only one night we were a bit disturbed by people speaking loudly at the bar that was just below our windows. Still, to apologise, the staff offered us a lunch on the last day :) The room was very clean and was kept clean throughout our stay. Once again, great service! The restaurant offers simple and yet refined dishes. We ate there every dinner of our three-night stay. Still, the breakfast wasn't up to what you would expect nowadays in a hotel. It's not about the quality, but about the choice (no buffet and only a simple breakfast is offered). Don't worry, a great boulangerie (bakery) is located next corner. Maybe another small con, is the absence of a small fridge in the room. Still, the staff will be glad to stock a few items for you. To sum up, I'd advise anyone to stay there! We spent three relaxing days in this awesome region.

    Stylish lodging with some problems

The first problem was finding the entrance: the address supplied on our confirmation was the back door, which was locked with no bell. A passing resident kindly directed us to the entrance which is on another street. We were greeted by a very charming and helpful young man. Our room was stylish with a comfortable bed but with a very impractical wardrobe, a safe that didn't work and only one chair, which was plastic. Our room overlooked the pretty courtyard which was set with tables for dinner. The restaurant seems very popular with trendy young people and on both nights we were disturbed by loud music till late.
