Delightful, quiet hotel with Old World charm and friendly, helpful staffThis charming hotel is located a short walk from the historic harbor area, so it's quiet, unhurried, peaceful. We arrived late and the staff had provided instructions for late arrivals -- no problems! The hotel is in a former convent and no rooms are the same; the overall layout provides privacy and different nooks and crannies for reading, writing, or just enjoying the ambiance. Our room was cozy and on the ground floor by request, which made our stay restful and convenient. Breakfasts were buffet-style but with a wide selection of breads, pastries, different jams and spreads, fruits (fresh and dried), nuts, meats and cheeses. In a word -- delicious. Staff were extremely helpful with maps to orient us to St. Martin and the island, as well as for points of local interest. We were very pleased with this "find" and our hearts linger on our stay.

Lovely hotel for few days. The hotel has an informal and independent vibe. It could not be better positioned, just away from the main hustle and bustle. The garden is the main feature but was looking a little tired and unloved. The service was ok but not particularly attentive. One of the downstairs rooms, 10 perhaps, has no windows and is damp.

Beautiful hotel and great serviceWe loved staying here. Saint Martin and the island are fantastic and this hotel is a fantastic place to stay to experience the area. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and they booked us into Madame Sardine for dinner twice which was great too especially as we needed a vegetarian option and there aren't many. Only word of warning is the parking garage is hard to find and even harder to get in and out of. It's small!

very chic chambres d'hoteMaison douce is not a hotel since they do not serve dinner and have no bar. but it is a vey chic B&B and well laid out round an attractive garden area with several cozy nooks/spaces for relaxing with a book or glass of wine. Attentive service from pleasant staff--and very good value relative to other accommodtion in this rather up market resort. Location is super (in the meandring cobbled lanes of the "old town" but parking is impossible so remote parking fees tend to push up the price of staying here. Drawbacks: the "standard rooms" are very small and it is probably woirth spending more to get a decent sized "priviledge room". Furthermore the stairway to our room (no 2) was very steep and narrow and with no hand rail something of a death trap. Also no English language channel on the TV even though they must get loads of english customers

Very bad condition (see photos)Could be really lovely given location but hotel (and more specifically our room) was very tired / centre-piece garden is not in a good state. See photos. I wrote (including the photos) and spoke to the manager after our one-night stay to complain and ask for a refund / some form of compensation. He suggested I should stay in an Ibis if I want something more modern and that I was blackmailing him when I advised I would post to tripadvisor. Nonetheless he did say he would speak with the owners. Radio silence since then... Given other options in the town / island, spend your money elsewhere. First ever post on TripAdvisor to hopefully help someone else not make the same mistake and book here unless dirty and tired" - not "rustic chic" - is what you are looking for.
