CAN NOT FAULT THIS HOTELBooked for 1 night and stayed 9. This is not a modern formulaic hotel-if that is a preference it is not for you. What this hotel has is character and charm from a bygone time. 10 minutes by car from Montpellier centre it is a peaceful haven. Montpellier centre is a nightmare for finding your way around by car and parking is difficult but the town itself has everything you need when visiting. A french colonial style hotel la Maison Blanche has large rooms with relatively high ceilings. Not the most modern but super clean and cared for. Large bathrooms, again dated but work perfectly. The huge terrace overlooking the gardens was fabulous. The staff at this hotel were super friendly and very helpful. The house keeping was impeccable. Free on site parking. Supermarkets, shops etc 1 minute walking distance away. We booked for 1 night and decided to stay another 8 nights - we were immediately upgraded at no extra cost. Having stayed in many many hotels around the world la Maison Blanche rates as one of the best hotel experiences we have ever had.

Dated, Charming AND QuirkyWe stayed at La Maison Blanche for two nights in May 2016 - my husband was traveling for business, and I tagged along to see the sites. We found this hotel after a reservation at another hotel did not work out, so we were not sure what to expect not having researched it. We stayed in a spacious room with a queen-sized bed (two twins pushed together), and a balcony overlooking the garden. We had lots of room, which was nice. The air in the room was a bit stale, and decor strange - wicker furniture paired with more contemporary lighting. The bathroom was particularly dated. But it was clean enough, and functional. The public areas in the hotel were a bit weird - sparsely furnished, again with mismatched furniture. Never a soul in the bar - not even a bartender. That said, the people who worked the front desk were very friendly and accommodating. The grounds are a bit overgrown, but very nice. The pool area was very clean. The restaurant next to the hotel served exceptional food. I loved it. Overall, we found the hotel to be quite quaint. We moved to another hotel for the balance of our trip only because the wifi was not that reliable (and this was a work trip for my husband). I like this little hotel, but agree it could use some sprucing up. With a little bit of work, it would be truly amazing.

Needs a bit more than just a little fixDated and charming would have been nice. Carpets in the hall however were dirty, the bathroom needed to be replaced years ago. No shower curtains or anything on the bathtub, so either you take a bath, you shower while sitting or you flood the bathroom. Beds however were clean and the wifi worked and parking is free. Check-in was friendly. Though I asked 2x whether breakfast was included. During check out all of a sudden breakfast was not included and it was a whopping 12 p.p. for a very somber breakfast buffet. Reaching the city center appeared to be more of a hassle than expected. Instead of using public transport we ended up using the car. Of all the places in the same price category we stayed in along the southern coast of France this was the only one we were unsatisfied. Definitely not worth the price and would not recommend to stay here. You can get a much nicer & cleaner place and better service for less money.

Very tired propertyA friend who lives near this hotel booked us into this hotel as it was the closest to her home. The property is very tired, and is situated in a rather boring part of Montpellier. The price that we paid - 120 euros/night - seemed high. We noted that the hotel is seeking planning consent to redevelop the property, so it is unlikely that they will invest in any upgrades in the meantime.
