Not as bad as it seems

On arrival i was not to sure what to expect. Reviews on websites are not great so I was not expecting much. However the staff are great. The two main receptionists are great and speak very good English. The kitchen staff don't speak English to well, but you can eventually get your way. The food is great and the staff are more than happy to change the food. We had a vegetarian and the chef was more than happy to cook up a great vegetarian meal for us. However we did manage to find some of the food they served over the road at the local supermarket. But I'm the food was excellent altogether. They only serve breakfast and dinner, but it's a good variety and very tasty food. The rooms are ok, decour could be updated and maybe they could add either an mini fridge in the rooms , or drink making facilities. The hotel is in a odd place definitely not a tourist area. But because of that the restaurant next door and the local beaches are exceptionally cheap, and of decent quality. It's a bit out of the way but the hotel suggest a taxi driver and he is very helpful and will take you anywhere and give you directions to somewhere Altogether great hotel and worth a visit shame about its position.

    Package's Fool

Very nice, outstanding building, brand new construction and furniture. Very good location and affordable. Downside of the place is THE LACK OF: people skills, customer service, service recovery, interest on repeat business. We have had the opportunity to stay there using a package given to me as a gift therefore its been prepaid to the hotel. The hotel made us feel like since its been paid for they didnt have to care about service at all nor make a good impression. Food quality was good however once again the experience and special occasion has been spoilt by the lack of interest on serving, lack of interest and commitment on customer's satisfaction. No options when it comes to dietary limitation's, no buffet replacement, no additional or second option provided nor proposed. The venue makes the most of tourist's stay not providing a quality service. Very unprofessional and deceiving :-(

    Average hotel

Hotel was OK and breakfast average. The room did not have a fridge, all the channels on the TV were Italian. It was an average hotel. Not a typical 4 star hotel. The location was a bit shadey. The rooms and bathrooms were clean enough.

3 stars is max, certainly not 4

3 stars is max, certainly not 4 Do not be fooled by this object. The hotel has a very small, additionally paid swimming pool. The rooms are very modestly furnished and have many flaws. Views from the room are on the neighboring buildings. The area is terrible and dangerous. You can not bring fruit bought in the store. Meals are modest, very few vegetables and fruits. The air conditioning is only turned on for a few hours and only when you request it at the reception. The beach is paid but nice - far away from the hotel.

    Awful experience

SO BAD that I checked out 2 days early from a prepaid week long booking. What a waste. Complete tourist trap! Seedy area miles away from Naples with no public transport. Didn't feel safe. So many hidden extras. Awful communication before and during my stay. I was scolded upon arrival by receptionist for telling the airport taxi man that the hotel confirmed transport for 50. Apparently I've put the hotel taxi man in serious danger? If there was a risk then why didn't you at least explain this was highly confidential in the email? I'm not a mindreader. I simply relayed the information I was told. Other issues included: - 2 Star hotel, defs not a 4 Star. Cracks on walls and air conditioning only worked from 9pm to 9am. - Strict no food and drink in rooms policy. Unaware of this, I was AGAIN scolded like a naughty child on day 1 for bringing bottles of water & grapes into my room. I can understand the grapes as fruit might attract insects but the water? Basically you MUST purchase bottled water from the hotel bar or die of dehydration within a few days. Is that even legal? - Breakfast was of poor quality and not much variety. - Only private beaches. 5 euro per bed. 5 euro per parasol. - My 10 year old son was extremely bored. Nothing to entertain kids. The hotel is not childfriendly. - The walls were so thin I could hear the couple next door having sex. - There was a prostitute standing across the road facing the hotel every night. - My son and I were followed and harassed by a old man in a silver car (not a taxi) while walking back from the beach. - Nearest ATM is 2km away which cost 15 return in taxi. - Nearest train station to Naples 15 taxi ride there and another 15 back to hotel. Taxi trip to Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius 200 for one adult and one child. This did not include lunch, entrance tickets, tour guide. Literally just the journey there and back. Ridiculous. - Airport to hotel taxi costs between 50 and 90. - Nearby restaurants did not open for lunch. The hotel didn't even serve lunch snacks, just crisps. I point blank refused to try the hotel restaurant for dinner as I didn't have high expectations if it being good. - Loud music playing until 1 or 2am every night so difficult to sleep. I tried to remain positive throughout, but the final straw was being charged 20 for a lost chipped door keycard which a simple Google search reveals they only cost 1 max. I checked out of the hotel the next morning! From reading the other negative reviews, I realise I will receive a response from La Costiera 'gaslighting' me to be the problem. Therefore, can I stress that money is not my issue as I checked into a much superior and more expensive 4 star hotel in Naples city and was 100% satisfied with my final 2 days of my trip and thoroughly enjoyed Pompeii, Mount Vesuvius, Serrantereo tours. My issue with the hotel is the hidden extras associated that are not clearly communicated at time of booking. No transparency. Can I also stress that I am very well travelled, going on 1 or 2 holidays per year as a single parent with my son since he was 1 year old and I've backpacked alone around Europe, India, SE Asia, China, Oz and SA. I can honestly say I have only had one worse experience than this holiday. Apart from my above comments, here is my 'constructive' advice to the hotel is to help improve the overall guest experience: If you want to accommodate non-Italian guests, please provide an detailed guest information pack in all languages explaining local attractions (if any!), amenities, good restaurants for lunch and dinner (if any!) and local transport options. An airport shuttle bus would also be useful and offering tours on certain days. The neighbouring hotel seem to offer coach tours, why not La Costiera? The neighbouring hotels also have ATM machines. Given the closest ATM is 2km away, and as the hotel is classified as 4 Star, would you not considering adding this feature for convenience?
