  Big disappointment

  Room is ok. No air and by noisy road. Restaurant, pricy and food very disappointing. Service slow. They gave the feeling that we, the guests should thank them for having us. Try another place if you can. Saying that, very friendly to dogs.

  Relaxing days - superb chef

  We stayed here because we were visiting Oradour-sur-Glane (you should go to see this) and this hotel was between Limoges and Oradour. Like a previous review, we arrived on a day that the chef was away, so we were asked to book a cold meal some days previously. It seems that other guests ate elsewhere - that was their choice - but we had travelled a good bit by car and wanted to relax. On our second night we had a good meal, but on our last night we had the tasting menu and it was superb. Two sets of amuse bouches to start with; followed by lobster and egg; mussel soup; hake with green vegetables; beef in beetroot with courgettes and pureed squash; cheese board; sangria gratinee; infused apple portions that were out of this world; petit fours and coffee; with white and red wines from the Loire Valley. It was superb. Our room was like a small suite on the ground floor with air conditioning and a small private terrace that led onto the grounds and the swimming pool a short distance away. The room was very comfortable and sleep quality was excellent. Staff were very friendly - but we had no reasons to call on them, such was our stay. One small negative comment that the owners could think about. At the dinner on the last night we were seated close to a couple that were quite heavy smokers. Perhaps they should have been seated downwind of us. All-in-all, I recommend this hotel. It's not the cheapest available, but it's value for money.

  OUTSTANDING...

  Beautiful setting,excellent property,perfectly sized for our tastes AND some of the best personal attention weve ever experienced from the key staff,overall a HUGE credit to the Relais & Chateau marque/ brand... Would love to re- visit as soon as possible- Thoroughly recommend...!

  Fabulous

  What a wonderful, fabulous place. Set into a gorgeous park, this small Relais & Chateau was the highlight of our 2 weeks vacation biking across France, and definitely our favorite hotel this summer. We had a Suite with a terrace directly on the park, very spacious and comfortable, while our children were upgraded to a superior room on the first floor, with a huge bathtub. The breakfast was amazing and the dinner (Michelin star) even better. Very nice pool set a bit aside from the main building. The service was impeccable and everybody was extremely attentive and friendly. We stayed 2 night and after 1 day, we already felt at home. I'm trying to find a reason to go back to Limoges just to stay at Chapelle St.Martin again ! Thanks a lot to the whole team!

  Always sublime to stay at a Relais-et-Chateaux

  We reserved for the "4 nights for the price of 3" promotion which has been in effect for over a year now for certain R&C hotels. The service was faultless. At every level the employees greeted us with a smile and a "bonjour, Madame, Monsieur". We were upgraded to a superior room, without even asking if we could have a better room. Upon entering, there was a note from the chef's wife (both owners) of the property, welcoming us to their establishment and thanking us for choosing to stay there. We chose the menu the first evening dining at the restaurant. Lovely service, but the main course was pigeon and it was difficult to cut (like all game birds.) We would have used our fingers had we been at a restaurant of a lower standing, but this was a minor flaw. All in all, we had a marvelous yet relaxing stay. Pricey, but worth it.
