  Lovely place, no heating, poor breakfast

  We booked through our travel agent for 1 night as we were passing through. We arrived around 1 pm on a Thursday and (just) managed to find some parking to go to the office and collect our keys, and also got a voucher for breakfast. The two ladies were very friendly and one of them took us to the house in question. Beautiful stonework, 2 bathrooms, 2 rooms for the 3 of us, no complaints. Then we realized the house was very cold (15°C) and the only means to heating the place was the air con unit. We set it to 30°C and it took several hours to even reach 19°C. In the meantime we stayed in bed trying to keep warm..... how about warming up the place before your guests arrive?? There were no slippers and most floors are stone.... so either you freeze or walk in the bathroom with your street shoes? Then I looked at my booking and saw Buffet breakfast included. I look at the voucher I got that afternoon and it stated "1 coffee, 1 croissant, 1 juice" (by the way, breakfast is at the bar of the main hotel in Modica Alta). So next morning we went for breakfast and we got a coffee and a croissant (unfortunately they did not have 2 (!!) with jam, so we had to order another type). See the pictures for the selection at the bar (the staff was very friendly though). I contacted my travel agent complaining about this obvious discrepancy (how much have I paid for the buffet breakfast?) and after almost a week today and in spite of my agent contacting the owner at least twice, we still have no reply whatsoever..... I call this poor service.

  ¡¡¡¡Alojamiento y ciudad de 10!!!!

  Estuvimos alojados en las casas del zodiaco en Modica, en 2012, durante dos días. El trato de los dueños, la casa (alquilamos la más grande) y la ciudad hicieron que nos supieran a poco esos dos días. Recomendaría pasar en la zona (Ragusa y Módica) al menos 4 días, porque da mucho de sí. La dueña nos llevó a a visitar una pequeña fábrica de chocolate que nos encantó a mayores y niños. El hecho de tomar el desayuno (incluido) en un hotel al que nos teníamos que desplazar cada mañana, en principio, nos pareció raro pero después...resultó encantador. Mis hijas mayores, que entonces tenían 4 y 2 años, disfrutraron de lo lindo de este alojamiento y de la ciudad. Aún siguen pidiéndonos volver algún día.

  Lovely break in Modica

  We spent a week at Le Case dello Zodiaco which provided an excellent base for touring and getting to know this part of Sicily. The apartment was clean, comfortable and provided all we needed. It is situated in Modica Alta in the middle of a maze of narrow streets. The walk from Modica's Main Street at the bottom of the hill is strenuous to say the least (there is a bus for the faint hearted) and the narrow streets are a bit of a challenge to both driving and navigation. The upside of this is that you get a real feel for the town and its people. Breakfast (at a nearby cafe) was limited in choice but pleasant and the service and welcome could not be faulted. There are a number of coastal resorts within easy reach by car and Ragusa Ibla and Scicli are both nearby and well worth a visit. Modica is a lovely city, full of history and charm. Ideal for a short break or as a base for touring. We had a very happy time at Le Case dello Zodiaco and would highly recommend it.

  Charming and comfortable apartment

  My husband and I have just spent 2 wonderful weeks in the Ariete (Aries) Zodiac apartment. We opted for a four-sleeper even though there were just the two of us and we didn't want to feel cramped given our long stay. It was a great decision. The apartment has 2 bedrooms upstairs with a bathroom. Downstairs is the sitting room with kitchenette and a second bathroom. There are ACs in the bedrooms and sitting room and a washing machine which we used regularly. The wifi was fine. The location of the apartment on the tiny Via Ciaceri is perfect -- an easy stroll to the main piazza of Modica Alta where we redeemed our daily breakfast voucher, as well as to the Enoteca Rappa, the Belvedere viewpoint and all our favourite restaurants and bars, like Trattoria da Fabio, Cafe Inno, Bar Amore, Pizza Smile, Panineria Miro and Bar Moderna. Despite scare stories, the climb down to Modica Bassa is gentle and takes only 15 minutes via the steps to San Giorgio, Modica's beautiful main cathedral. And the climb back takes 20 minutes by the same route. This is good because the buses are few and far between. Veronica, who was our landlady, was very obliging and helpful, responding promptly to our WhatsApp messages to book a restaurant, reserve our taxi back to Catania and coming immediately to the rescue when once we'd locked ourselves out! Daily cleaning with fresh bed linen and towels were highly appreciated. We loved this apartment and would definitely like to book it again next year.

  Muy amables

  La verdad que esta en todo el centro y fueron muy amables a la hora de explicarnos donde comer, donde ir, etc... Las habitaciones la verdad que muy completas algunas pequeñas pero acogedoras y la decoración muy italiana.
