    Good hotel and nice onsen

Quite new and modern hotel. It takes about 20-30 minutes by bus from Tazawako station and costs 820 yen. The Japanese style room was large and clean and the futon was comfortable. Breakfast and dinner were buffet style so you won't be hungry in here. Staff members were also really nice and polite. The onsen was really great also, it has two different kinds of water and an outdoor bath too. Overall a really nice place and the price is reasonable.

Nice Cafe For Lunch If Staying at More Rustic Onsens in the area

If you are staying in one of the more rustic onsens , this is a nice place to have a good lunch at Western style tables while hiking in the national park. Food was very good and staff were very welcoming. It is situated in a beech forest with a network of hiking trails nearby that will take you to see skunk cabbage swamp,-- with signs warning to avoid bears!

Relaxing stay, great food and onsen

I stayed here with 7 other family members in 3 rooms. Its the only ryokan in the area that has Western style rooms with beds (that I found through research). This was perfect for my elderly auntie and uncle. My family slept 4 adults to a room Japanese style which was quite snug - I would recommend 3 adults max per room. Loved sleeping with the window open and letting the mountain air in. The room rate comes with dinner and breakfast buffet style and it did not disappoint! Some of the nicest tempura I had ever tasted and the ice cream was fabulous. I enjoyed watching the barista carefully pouring out drip coffee every morning. Delicious! We drove two cars and there was ample, free parking. A 20 min drive to Lake Tazawa, 45 min drive to Kakunodate, 35 min drive to see the Skunk Cabbage Festival and around 55 mins to Dakigaeri Gorge. The outdoor onsen is brilliant and I loved the honey shampoo so much I bought a bottle home. We used the onsen every day! One thing to note is there arent any private baths so the staff kindly told my shy aunt that she could bathe with a towel wrapped around her body. They gave her the towel at the front desk. Staff were very friendly and accommodating even though their English was limited. It added to the charm not seeing any other foreign tourists!

Lovely, modern and central for Nyuto exploration and onsen hopping

This is a lovely, well kept hotel, which is perfect to use as a base for Nyuto area exploration and onsen hopping. Staff is fantastic, and very helpful. Breakfast and dinners are buffet style and are delicious. Akita cousine is outstanding! But they have western choices as well. Rooms are clean, spacious and futons are very comfortable. Baths are great, 2 indoor and 1 outdoor, all very clean, with great amenities and toiletries. Highly recommend this property.

    Kyukamura Onsen

I visited this place during my whole day of onsen hopping. Kyukumura is a modern-style hotel in Nyuto. Situated in the secluded Nyuto hot spring village. Kyukamura is a quiet hotel surrounded by beech forest. Their indoor and outdoor bath complex features two types of natural hot spring water.
