Not as good as other Kyukamuras, but . . .

. . . I had a huge western-style room. It was the size of an apartment. This hotel is located a bit north of the Ibusuki sand baths, but is offers it's own sand bath. As expected, the hotel is right on the beach and each room has a nice oceanfront view. Dinner was not the typical buffet of most Kyukamuras (which I have found to be the best buffets I've eaten in Japan, in regards to quality of dishes and variety), but was decent. Breakfast was the usual buffet.

    Sand bath okay, onsen sucks

Ibusuki is quite a different place in Kyushu, when we drove Kagoshima City to our destination, certain sceneries somehow reminded me of Okinawa. The hotel is situated along the beach and the carpark is opposite to it. Frankly, it is not our original choice of hotel in this area. However, we changed to this one on a second thought, because the room rate is much lower and, most importantly, this hotel has its own sand bath facility. Giving a try to sand bath is one of our major tasks in Ibusuki. We still had to pay for that apart from the room rate. The sand was not too hot but it was kind of heavy, anyway, it was a nice attempt. At the time of check-in, ladies are free to choose their own Yukata and even a small bag for them within the hotel. I would suggest travelers to check in earlier because you can never imagine for how long ladies will need in front of more than a dozen choices of a certain attire for them. The four of us occupied 2 rooms and they were almost identical except on different storeys. Rooms are spacious with a tremendous view facing the ocean. However, keep looking horizontally towards the ocean. If you look down towards the beach, you will see construction site vehicles digging and moving the sand (darker in color) for sand bath. Apart from the sand bath facility, the hotel also offers both indoor and outdoor onsens. Strictly speaking, the outdoor is not having any view at all. And I really dont know if the onsen water is actually sea water because it is salty! Lets move on to the food. Our semi-buffet was okay and beyond our expectation. I have to commend the restaurant for being very understanding that they had colorful rubber bands available at the reception for customers to constrain the sleeves of their yukata. Not many hotels in Japan are doing the same for the convenience of having meals. BTW, wifi was only available in the lobby.

For this kind of price, you get good value

This was one of the cheapest hotels during our 11-day trip in Kyushu. It turned out to be quite alternative and fun... alternative in a sense that (1) there is no wi-fi inside the room and you have to go to the lobby to get connected and (2) there is no shower inside the room. For a shower, you have to go to the public onsen. Well, something new to me! Everyone in the hotel was nice. Pretty Japanese standard. Dinner was included in our room rate and it included a nice buffet with some additional dishes served at our table. We had plenty to eat and were really full. Breakfast was equally fulfilling. One thing I wish they could improve on is the balcony. It felt unfinished and dusty. But aside from that, I was happy with this hotel. With a price tag of 12710 yen per person, we got exceptional value out of this hotel. I'd come back again!

    Perfect Location & Cost Effective

it is a 30 minute-walk to the Chirin island from this hotel. They have their own Sand Bath Hot Spring(US$9.00 apart from the hotel fee depending on the deal )so you need not go out for it. In fron of the hotel you can see Uomidake mountain and the backside gives you fantastic ocean view and sunrise. All you can eat breakfast has both western style and Japanese local one and the latter was very delicious. I can highly recommend this hotel. Only one minor problem was caused by one of the reception staff(maybe a new comer). On cheking in when I was very tired, I told him that I would like to buy a two day bus pass which I knew they had through internet then he said he was not sure if they had it and after consulting another staff he started saying if I need one day or two day pass. He explaind about free of charge member card of theirs and he need only my name & phone number and I agred to have it and later when I was waching very interesting TV, some other guy called me on the house phone and told they need additionally my adddress and birthday information . Anyway overall I would give them good point and hope that they trained the new comer well

everything is good except the onsen

the hotel facade facing the main road looks old and yucky but it is totally different once you enter the hotel, most of the rooms facing the sea are with balcony with a wonder sceneries. Dinner is great too as reflected in the hotel+dinner package price. the only bad thing that there is only shared bathroom in the onsen area, it's acceptable to me as i went to sand bath or onsen anyway. unfortunately, the onsen area looks bit dirty and old, not appealing at all.
