    Sensacional hotel

    Traditional ryokan

We enjoyed our stay at this inn, found the room to be very comfortable with good lighting and amenities (e.g. refrigerator, coffee tea). The hosts and all the staff are models of accommodation and friendliness, the Kaiseki dinner was delicious. We also enjoyed the Japanese breakfasts which were plentiful and varied each day. Another plus, the ryokan is only a mile from Kyoto station and two blocks from a subway and a short walk to Higashi-Hongan-ji Temple.

    Comfy bed, great free coffee!

8-10 mins walk to the train station, room is very neat & clean. Bed is super comfy! Traditional Japanese dinner & breakfast were served course by course. Theres no onsen here but theres a wooden tub in the bathroom. Towels & robes are thick and soft. Love the yukata they prepared for guests! Premium (free) coffee to enjoy after the meals or to go in the common area!

    Excellent service

I loved this place. I created an account so I could review it. The staff members are all friendly and accommodatingattentive without being in your face. My cab driver getting there got lost. I emailed en route to say I was late and I was sorry. I was pretty tired and frazzled by the time I got there after having flown in that day. The front desk staffer came outside to welcome me and took my luggage in for me. She even ran to make change for the cab driver who would not. I figured out later that I arrived after the last dinner seating but I still had a delicious meal made up of several (8 to 10) dishes that were brought out individually as I finished them. All were beautifully plated. My ground-floor room was a pleasing size, and the bathroom modern. The entire place is spotless. Because of the typhoon it rained heavily my first day so I just stayed in the ryokan, happy to relax in the open-air lounge overlooking the beautiful courtyard garden. There is a lovely larger lounge where guests can get complimentary tea or coffee, read from their library of travel books or do origami. They let me keep my luggage there all day after I checked out. When I came back after a day of sight-seeing, the front desk clerk visited with me while I waited for a taxi and even came outside to say goodbye. The service really was excellent. Warning: like me, you will be sad to leave and your next hotel will pale in comparison.

First time in Kyoto at my first Ryokan and Ill definitely be back!

Just spent an absolutely lovely 24 hours as a guest at Kyokoyado Muromachi Yutone. And from the moment the front desk attendant rushed out to greet me when my taxi pulled up front to the moment she stood outside waving goodbye as I left I couldnt have felt more at home. But oh, what a peaceful and comfortable home it was! Its cozy yet deceptively spacious not only in its lounge, dining room, and public areas but my bedroom itself couldnt have been more clean, attractive, or perfect for my solo traveling needs (though it could have more than comfortably accommodated a second guest). Hidden on a quiet street, everything you want from a traditional Japanese Inn is waiting there for you a beautiful garden courtyard, tatami floors, shoji paper blinds, and gorgeous woodwork at every turn even the bathtub is made of wood! In fact, the only complaint I have is more my problem than theirs if you are over 6 feet tall (Im 63) you will occasionally need to remember to duck just to make sure you dont meet some of that woodwork head on! And one more thing. I thoroughly enjoyed the traditional Japanese breakfast on the morning I left. Highly recommend. Kyoto is a truly wonderful city. I just wish I had more time to stay there. And much more time to stay at Kyokoyado Muromachi Yutone!
