Gracias Kwandwe!!

Perfect for a Family SafariWe spent four nights at Melton Manor, and our child wants to move there permanently. The staff (at least 8 people just for this house) was amazing. Cindy runs a tight ship and she, the kitchen staff and the ranger team are phenomenal with kids, while also offering superb warmly discreet service to the adults. Nice selection of beverages and a surprisingly extensive wine list. This property is isolated by miles from other accommodations at Kwandwe, and offered us absolute privacy and security. Our family used all 4 rooms, which are organized as 2 in each wing the house separated by a courtyard. Each pair of rooms is connected by a communicating door. It would also work well for 2 families, with two rooms per family. We had excellent game viewing, including the "big five", hornbills, blue crane, meerkats, and lots of nocturnal animals. The house is surrounded by a subtle electric fence, making it safe to travel to your room (or across the courtyard to check on your kids) without an escort, which we appreciated after a more open environment in the Masai Mara presented some logistical challenges. Food was phenomenal, and the staff picked up on our favorites and catered to our needs. Bathrooms are spacious and well appointed - the water is not potable, but bottled water is provided. I was particularly impressed by some little details here - the grounds staff didn't get working until we left for a game drive, every staff member we passed (from road crews to the GM) would pull over to let our jeep go by or wait until our ranger had signaled that it was ok for them to pass and always waved to us from a distance. Every day brought some special distinctive touch - a meal in the boma, surprise ultra-luxe sundowners, or a meal with the ranger team. A visit in cold but sunny winter meant no bugs (not a single bug bite, yay!) and the snakes are sleeping, We got hot water bottles and blankets to keep us snug in the jeep. The pool was chilly, but we did hop in one day. Not the most affordable safari option, but a very good value for your money. Highly recommended.

Amazing Private Villa for FamiliesStaying at Kwandwe's Melton Manor was easily one of the top travel experiences of my life, and I've travelled extensively globally and stayed in many luxurious properties. The villa stay includes a private safari guide, spotter and jeep. Our guide and spotter were Chase and Siza who were professional, fun to be with, and a huge part of what made our stay so fabulous. On our first game drive we were lucky enough to witness a mother cheetah and her five cubs hunt, kill and eat a baby springbok which will go down in the forever memory books of my children who loved all of our game drives. There are many positive reviews of Melton Manor which I agree with, however I will focus mine on why it's outstanding for families. The stay includes wonderful cooked meals, laundry service (a huge help with boys who go through one to two dirty outfits a day!), babysitting and safari drives. I was able to take my ten month old baby on all of our safari drives and he loved having the warm breeze in his face and ended up falling asleep for most of the drives so it was easy to have him join us. Between 11a-4pm in between drives, a babysitter watched over the baby at the villa and entertained my six and seven year old boys with art projects so I was able to relax or nap which is practically unheard of while traveling with my three children. Our house manager was always a moment away to help with any detail we needed help with, our children received welcome gifts and activity books which they loved, and they greatly enjoyed baking pizzas with the villa chef on one of the days of our stay. We felt comfortable allowing our children to play freely in the indoor / outdoor areas of the villa and enjoyed the luxurious and stylish accommodations and wonderful, personal service that accompanied it. The Kwandwe staff feels like a family- the kind you hug before leaving, and think of fondly for a long time after. We just left and I am already dreaming of planning another stay in the future- this place is simply wonderful.

A truly perfect stayWe visited Melton Manor back in 2007 and enjoyed what our teenage children regarded as the best holiday they have ever been on. We returned this week with our youngest and her husband and had the most incredible time again. The private house itself is set deep in the reserve and is quite beautiful. 4 lovely suites set around the patio with seating and eating areas. The pool is small and very cold! But it was crystal clean. There is a new deck and seating area in the garden with a large fire pit. The rooms are lovely with heated floors and electric blankets when it was cold in the evening. Beds are soft and pillows comfortable . Bathrooms are large with walk in showers and baths for two and very romantic with large glass windows overlooking the garden and rooms private terrace. The main living area is large with comfortable sofa and chairs, a bar and open fireplace. The dining table at the other end and kitchen pantry area are also beside the fire. The food was incredible and we had three days of being spoiled by Sylvia (the delightful house manager), Chef who did everything to ensure we had exactly what we wanted, Mandla who looked after us at the table and the housekeeping staff. We wanted for nothing. And of course then there was the Reserve. Its huge and we had the most amazing time exploring it. Our ranger Ivan was a star!! He is so knowledgeable and passionate about the animals, the environment, the fauna and the night sky. He was also a really good sport and joined in our family banter. Sebo our spotter was astounding his eyes that able to pick out things so far away even when we were moving at speed. We saw everything but the Leopard. Altogether a truly great few days. Certainly we should have stayed at least 4 nights. My final thoughts -we expected fabulous, we got truly perfect. Cant wait to return again- we wont leave it so long next time.

Amazing experience. UnforgettableI have travelled to some amazing properties around the world but this was something else! Melton Manor is absolutely gorgeous. The rooms are beautiful, the bathrooms spacious and airy. The staff were very attentive, nothing was too much trouble. The food was delicious and home cooked to order, (a little too much food if anything). Grant and Mr V our ranger and tracker were fantastic and such great fun, getting up at 5am has never been so easy! The scenery was stunning, we saw so many animals and a live lion and cheetah kill. South Africa really stole my heart and i will definitely return.
