  Cozy, welcoming, classy

  Our stay was a welcome retreat in Port Hardy! The hotel is beautiful, new and very well kept, with lovely art and cultural history and decor throughout. The staff were SO friendly, providing all the info we needed and helping us have a great stay. We ate at the pub both nights we were there, and it was great - fresh, local cuisine, seafood, and classic pub food to suit all needs. We felt so at-home during our stay, from the staff to the locals at the pub, everyone was so welcoming and friendly. We will be back!

  Beautiful place to stay.

  This hotel is clean, updated, and stylish with Indigenous designs in the bedroom, fair-trade coffee and chic toiletries that made the walk-in shower all the more luxurious. I love the self-shutting room door that doesn't slam and shake the whole floor, not that it was necessary because the hotel is relatively quiet. Front desk is very accommodating (like when I asked for a microwave in my room). Kudos to Josh at reception for his warm smiles and helpful demeanour when we were there. Although higher-priced than other hotels in Port Hardy, it is a bargain compared to the same quality hotel in a big city. Plenty of easy parking, right off the main road and so close to shops on the main drag. Social distancing, and hand sanitizers in place here. Highly recommend.

  Second time was fine

  We LOVED this hotel when we stayed here in 2017. This year it seemed to be working to a slightly more casual standard. The (very) good: the room was beautiful with the gorgeous artwork backlit and embedded in the headboard. An excellent bed too! The room was very well lit with (thank you!) quality LED lighting that could be adjusted according to need. It also had one of the best showers we've had anywhere. The not so good: this hotel presents challenges in bad weather: this is no covered entrances. There is no handicap auto-open on any of the doors. There isn't even a way to hold the door open as you enter with your luggage, other than with the assistance of a second person. On that note if you want to plug in your laptop or other devices, be prepared to get down on hands & knees and crawl under furniture. Only 3 coat hangers? No microwave without special prior arrangement? The WIFI signal was weak and sometimes intermittent. The heat pump was noisy. COVID protocols were extremely relaxed. We didn't see a single employee wearing a mask. At least the front desk had a face screen in place. That attitude to COVID was prevalent everywhere we went in Port Hardy.

  Boutique Sleeps: Experiencing Port Hardys Kwa'Lilas Hotel

  The hotels 85 guest rooms feature First Nations decor, from the lovely illuminated headboard to a steel side panel where the coffee maker (with packs of Spirit Bear Coffee) and mini fridge are located. The room is simply furnished but very comfortable, as are the mattresses and bedding! Sound sleeps all around. KwaLilas is currently renovating its signature restaurant, hame, however Naxid Pub is open for lunch, dinner and evening cocktails.

  Best Choice for Port Hardy

  Visited Port Hardy for the first time. Stayed three nights at this property. We were provided with a pet room on the first floor. The view from the room was of a parking lot but we appreciated being able to stay with our pet. The room was very clean and comfortable, the furnishings modern as well as the décor. The bathroom wasn't huge but was well appointed and very modern as well with a nice shower. The soaps and lotions provided were really nice. We ate in the pub most nights, food and service were great. After researching places to stay in PH and from driving around and seeing other options, there is no comparison to this hotel.
