Cosy hotelWe drove and parking is free. Room is big and comfortable. The sunset view from the room is beautiful. They serve free vension curry rice, wine and drinks at night. Staff is friendly. But there is no aircon when we visit. We do not know if this is because it is early spring. We open the window and enjoy the natural cool wind. Overall a nice hotel.

The Hotel to stay in KushiroA beautiful modern clean hotel that takes effort to please the guests. Although there is no onsen, they provide bath salts for you to soak in the long bath in your room. The long bath is bigger than most Japanese hotels. The room is spacious with good king size baths. Furnishing is modern. There is a lounge on the ground floor where guests can help themselves to coffee, tea, soft drinks and wine! Breakfast was sumptuous and they offer free champagne!!! Upon checkout, they present you with two free bottle of mineral water, what a lively gesture. Staff speaks English.

Very comfortable & great valueStayed 2 nights last month. Nice modern comfortable hotel in good location. Plenty of eating options nearby and only 5mins walk to fishermans wharf where you can get off/on airport buses and Akan sightseeing buses. 15min walk to Kushiro Washo market. Excellent formal Japanese breakfast (with standard additional buffet options) provided and staff are all very friendly and helpful. Complimentary venison curry and drinks are available in the evening (did not try). Would most definitely stay here again if in Kushiro. Great value.

Knocked off one star because of ridiculous check-in experience (read on)First up: I must admit that I otherwise absolutely love this hotel. It should have gotten five stars. It has a lot of thoughtful touches: a guest lounge with free coffee, tea, wine, soup and even curry in the evenings. You can pick your pillow from the pillow bar. There's even a selection of bath salts for the taking. Parking right out in front if you're early. And the hotel gives you cash coupons to spend at the gift shop. Thanks to a generous promotion on the website, we got an amazing rate for the gorgeous Japanese Suite room, just ¥35,000 for two nights. It was newly renovated and comes with its own little outdoor garden. From here, the sunset views over the river are amazing. The hotel's only shortcoming is that it is on the 'wrong' side of the river, but it only takes maybe 5-10 mins extra walking time to get to the restaurants, bars and attractions on the other bank. So what went wrong? We had arrived at 2:45pm, after a long drive from Obihiro in the snow. But the unwelcoming man at the counter asked us to wait till 3pm, because that is when check-in officially starts. I could not believe my ears. The room was obviously available, because after five minutes of me standing in the lobby, stunned and still struggling to accept the ridiculousness of the situation, the man's colleague came over (bless her) came over and gave me the keys. Over the years, we have stayed in 40+ hotels in Japan, and I've been asked to wait when I show up an hour early for a reservation. I have accepted that this is the deal in this country. But 15 minutes... this is a new low in inflexibility and has no place in an establishment whose one and only job is hospitality.

With the comfortable lounge, it has to rate 'Excellent'!Stayed 2-nights at the end of January when I visited Kushiro to travel on the SL Shitsugen. What a lovely hotel in this quiet rural town. Nice, decent sized room; friendly staff and service, and all at a reasonable price. For me the highlight of my stay was the use of the comfortable lounge on the Ground Floor, just off the Reception area. This was a quality hotel 'Club Lounge' available to all guests at no extra cost. As a near 70-yr old, travelling solo, it was great to arrive back at the hotel and enjoy some quality time in such relaxing surroundings; have a coffee and download the days' photographs from camera to laptop. Without the lounge, I would have easily rated the hotel as 'Very Good'; with the lounge, it has to rate 'Excellent'!
