Skip it!Let's start off by saying that this place must have been awesome 30 years ago! Unfortunately this hotel is stuck in the past and is badly in need of a remodel! It is simply worn out and calling it tired is an understatement! We stayed here in September 2018 and out of 10 hotels we visited in Japan this one ranked dead last! What a shame! Our room was in the Tower portion of the hotel! I kid you not when I say that every single wall had markings, every single carpet was stained and dirty! Our room was very big However it was dated and in poor condition! The furnishings were damaged and sagging, door frames were coming off the walls, the washroom was from another era! This hotel is not English friendly. Although some staff were able to speak some english none of the signs, papers or menu options are in english. Everything that is written in Japanese seems to be translated to Chinese however very little was also translated in english. One example I can give was that every meal at the buffet was written in Japanese and Chinese but maybe 1 out of 5 also had an english translation. Another example, the onsen provided many products that you could use which were all written in Japanese and had a sticker with a Chinese translation but absolutly zero english to be found anywhere. There are positives to this resort. There are many things to do here as the resort has a large pool, public onsen, bowling ally, arcades, ping pong etc. There is also a free shuttle to the center of town. Free parking is available for guests and there are 2 large buffets. One is a mix of western and chinese cuisine while the other is more of a Japanese buffet. The buffet was expensive but the quality was acceptable. I quite enjoyed the onsen at this location, the water here was not the clear type and had a stronger smell which is typical of this area. We would not return or recommend the Hotel Village! If we ever return to this area will will spend a little more to get a much better room and experiance elsewhere!

Beautiful onsen, lovely old dameWe stayed at the start of autumn with rains and fogs, but so much enjoyed our time in Kusatsu. Mostly because of the Village and its activities. Choice of two onsens, Therme pool, lounges, cafes, shop... Buffet breakfast is great, with a variety of cuisines and fresh, local produce. Staff is very wellcoming and accommodating, regular shuttle to Yubatake very punctual. Some wider marketing and minor refurbishment would certainly bring more international visitors.

Beautiful stay in the middle of the mountainsVery nice resort around 15 minutes away from the center of Kusatsu (the Yubatake). You can play bowling, ping pong, ski, karaoke and other activities there. The Onsen is very nice too where you can relax too. The breakfast and dinner are buffet style (included in the price generally) and they are very good both. I really recommend to go here specially on winter so you can enjoy the skiing (extra price) and see the landscape full of snow.

Below StandardVery nice property in the mountains, however the hotel is below our standard and is not living up to its potential. Best things were that the staff are really great and therefore the service was excellent. Good things were the activities such as the tree athletic courses, archery and many outdoor activities. The mountain property is beautiful for non-ski season and I'm sure during ski season. Indoor activities such as gaming room, bowling was fun and the pool is really nice. The pool area also has a sauna and bath area to enjoy. The downside was the hotel is rather old and doesn't feel so clean. Also the buffet at dinner was not very interesting, long slow line up and the dining room itself was not very nice or comfortable. The Patio dining room is better, but that option was not available. We asked for the Patio dining room for breakfast and this was nicer to sit in but still the buffet wasn't so interesting. The food simply wasn't that good. Also there was very little option for our daughter who has an egg and dairy allergy. At lunch there was no option available at the hotel except rice. The onsen in the hotel is not very nice. The check-in and check-out was very slow with very long line-ups. We had fun, but wouldn't bother to go back unfortunately.

Log house is awesomeShort family's vacation during covid-19 pandemic, log house it's a best solution. The hotel provide so many attractions, staff is really profesional and so helpful. Just near to main attraction and free shuttle bus is so convinced
