  Best Place To Start Alpen Route

  Our family of five had two rooms at this hotel before embarking upon the Alpen Route the following day. We took the bus from the Omachi station (a large coach bus, timed to leave a few minutes after the train arrives); we told them what hotel we were going to - the stop is a major one (90% of the people got off the bus there) for the Spa. From the stop you can see the hotel and just need to walk across the street and up the hill. It was the same stop we picked up the same bus for the following morning to continue to Ogizawa and the start of the Alpen Route. The hotel was a traditional Japanese hotel, with no beds, just straw mats. We picked a time to go to dinner when we checked in and they setup our futons while we were eating. Dinner was in a large cafeteria with a buffet with primarily traditional Japanese dishes, along with ice cream for dessert. We were among the only Westerners staying there which added to the experience, most of the guests appeared to be Japanese staying for the onsen.

  Great value, laundry facilities!

  Kurobe Kanko Hotel is along yhe bus route between the Shinano-Omachi station and Ogizawa station, which is the start of the Alpine Route. Its a large tourist class hotel, which serves dinner and breakfast buffet style. Having said that, that quality of food in the biffet is excellent, and most people would enjoy the dinner (includes grilled beef station), and breakfast (includes scrambled eggs and a selection of pastries). The hotel also has self-service washing machines and dryers available for guests to use, which is a real plus for those if us who need to get some laundry done.

  Will stay here again!

  Beautiful hotel with good dinner (albeit pricey) and breakfast. Love the onsen and the tatami rooms. They even come in to set your futons for you when you are our for dinner. Great ending to the Alpine route visit!

  Big room, near bus stop

  2mins walk to the bus stop, bus is serving the Shinano Omachi station to Ogizawa station route, ideal for those taking the Tateyama Alpine trip. Big Japanese style room, enough to accommodate at least 6pax in a room. Toilet and sink are inside the room, but no bathroom in the room. You can take a bath in the hotel onsen which is located at ground floor. Onsen for male and female are swapped everyday. Breakfast and dinner is buffet style, served at hotel dining hall. Standard varieties of Japanese foods and limited variaties of western foods. Dinner inclusive of unlimited serving of grilled beef, snow crab, sashimi, sushi, grilled fish. Alcohol is also served at additional charge. Luggage forwarding service is available at the hotel shop. Nothing much within walking distance from the hotel, except a small eatery which I didnt bother to check out since my package is inclusive of breakfast and dinner.

  Price Worthy Hotel with Buffet

  I stayed at this hotel after I finished my Tateyama Alpine trip. The location of the hotel is very good because the bus stop of just 2-minute walk. The hotel offers buffet style dinner and breakfast. The variety and the freshness of the food made me want to stay one more night at this hotel. It is definitely recommended to stay at this hotel.
