  One of the "good countryside" hotels in Gotemba

  We've been staying for 2 weeks at the Kuretake in as we have been working at Fuji Speedway. For me, it was the first stay in Japan and I heard that the countryside hotels are not comparable with western standard hotels. So, I expected the worst. The Kuretake-inn is very close to the highway but you can't hear it even if you open the window. You can reach the Gotemba center within 20 minutes by walking or by taxi for apprx. 1000 JPY / 7 EUR. The hotel itself is clean and offers rooms which seem to be "big" compared to other Japanese hotels. They also have a FreeFi connection which is ok for sending E-Mails, but not for Skyping. The bathroom is small but effective. The water system is quite outdated (no mixing faucet, temperature is changing all the time). The breakfast is mainly traditional Japanese. Miso soup, fish, rice, a variety of salads and fried "things". Western breakfast is restricted to toast, jam and Nutella. Only some of the hotel staff speaks fluently English what is no surprise at the countryside. In the closer area, there are many nice restaurants for having dinner.

  Most convenient hotel in Gotemba

  Excellent location, great rooms, simple but more than adequate breakfast provided. Short walk to free shuttle bus going to Gotemba Premium Outlets. Short distance to Gotemba train station, walkable or short ride by cab.

  Excellent service

  Stayed for 3 nights while we climbed Fuji. They let me park my motorcycle in the basement so it was covered and dry. the front desk worker did not speak any English but she tried her very best to make sure we were satisfied. when I asked if the onsen in the hotel allowed tattoos ( i have 3) she said no, but she had a private bath for my wife and I reserved in the basement so we could still relax. our room had a good view of Mt Fuji and was quite spacious as we were on the end.

  Perfect location, nice hotel

  . , . . . ( .) . . . Hotel has bad sides like other small hotels. But THE perfect location compensates them all. Gotemba Interchange and Gotemba IC bus station are 3 minute walk distance. One big CVS is right in front of hotel. Good restaurants are within 5 minutes distance by car. This hotel is also good in services. You can find almost all amenities you may want from hotels in front of check-in desk. They are all free (even the shower balls). Free drip coffee is served 24/7 from vending machine. Hotel serves ice cups too. Breakfast buffet doesn't have many choices. If you are not familiar with Japanese food, all you can pick are egg, sausage, bread and curry. Anyway quality of foods are not bad. Room is quite small but clean and with bathroom. Bathroom is also clean and has bathtub. On the 1st floor, tiny hot spa opens at early morning and night. It's for 3 persons max. Water quality is very good.

  Good location with limited parking

  The hotel room was decent and we managed to get a corner room (rooms ending with 02) that was bigger with great views of Mt Fuji. A free welcome drink was provided, and onsen facilities were available on-site too. Breakfast was delicious and had quite a good variety. The only downside was that there were limited parking available at the hotel.
