  You have to be there

  I love this small family hotel!! Isabelle and Everyone took care of us too well, she always have a great recommend what to do and where to go in this small busy town, the hotel have a good spot if you like to take a walk trail, to go for skiing, bar or restaurant. Breakfast not much option as only us in the hotel before the season is over but fulfill your tummy alright! And she happy to offer more if you have any request, during your stay you will enjoy amazing view, fresh air, fresh water and don't forget to end you hard day with Sauna!! Make sure you have inform her before then it's there ready for you!! Enjoy like we did!

  I would stay there next time in Bad Gastein

  Close to center and skibus, just a short walk from restaurants, very nice owner and very good service. I would stay there next time in Bad Gastein. The pension is an old building but the quality of accomadation is still good. You pay less for a stay here than rooms closer to the Railway station but you still is just a short walk (5 - 7 minutes) from the restaurants and bars.

  Very welcoming

  We had a very nice stay. Good breakfast, very nice coffee. Short walk to restaurants and cafes. From the balcony you have very nice views into Bad Gastein and the surrounding mountains. At average minus 15° Celsius it was nice to come back into a well heated, clean and good sized room. Bathroom with bathtub helps you to warm up after a day out in winter. Drinks are available in the breakfast room at fair prices

  Poor owners' behavior at Villa Anna, a very cozy and scenic place

  Oh well, where should I start... Did I set my expectations too high thinking that an only-fair customer treatment from the owners-operators would be a given ? I might seem to. For a last minute change I asked - not requested, just to for the records- an extra bed for my young adult nephew accompanying me and my brother in this trip. There is where all started to go downhill (no analogy with the skiing which was great by the way ) with Isabelle, the wife of the owner. Her answer was no more no less then "Perhaps you (me that is )are used to that in America or Arabia (sic!) ". Frankly, Isabelle, what in the world, literally and figuratively, does such a comment have to do with hospitality ? I was shocked and still am that I couldn't even report her to a manager as this is a relatively small bed-and-breakfast to Canadian standards. But by all means totally not up to any acceptable standards regardless of country or continent. Speaking with the owner and Isabelle's husband, Rudy Berger, did not bring much relief. He seemed to be stuck in repeating the same things, something that had to do with why I did not let him know in advance of my arrival of the change. Again Rudy , no need to be rude to drive your point across. No one, me for sure not imposed anything on you as operators and the proof is that 30 minutes and $477 later, after our totally disconcerting conversation, I arranged and paid in full an alternate, off-site accommodation for the person and the matter in question. One would think that would have been the end of tourist/guest mistreating on the side of Berger family ? No way it continued all the way till close to the end of our stay. There were nasty details in Isabelle's attitude and behavior that I won't even bother mentioning here. One that I would was when she warned me that a banana that I was holding and not yet peeled while still in the breakfast room, was not to be taken out as everything on her breakfast. Really, Mrs. Berger, is that really how you choose to treat your guests ? Sad. That being said, we -an actual larger group of Canadians in our '50s- did not let that stay in the way of a wonderful vacation in the fabulous Bad Gastein, where, anyplace else we have had good and excellent experiences only. I'd return any time to Bad Gastein and Villa Anna provided these two genuinely grumpy people would give up an unsuited occupation for them and sell to better operators.

  A very pleasant and memorable stay with great hospitality!

  I am astonished by Eugen C comment on how badly the service he encountered and decided to share our experience and defend the host, Isabelle. I think misinterpretation and language barrier is the issue instead of bad service. I was recently staying in Villa Anna with 4 other friends from Australia. We were all amazed by how beautiful and well kept the villa is. We were all given rooms (3 rooms) with balcony overseeing the spectacular view of Bad Gastein. The rooms are all well equipped, tastefully decorated, clean and very comfortable! Breakfast buffet in the morning was adequate and excellent. Often, we were at the breakfast room earlier than time set, but the friendly host Isabelle will always greet us with a sunny smile and coffee. Although her English is not perfect, Isabelle is always very helpful in giving us tips on where to hike and where to visit in the area. Despite running the place alone, she will always make time for her us when needed. We had good hike there for 4 days and our 3 nights in Villa Anna have been nothing but a relaxing and very pleasant stay. We all left with a very clear mindset...we are definitely coming back and will surely recommend this beautiful Villa to all our friends. Thanks Isabelle again for the great hospitality.
