Could be great but needs some TLCBooked a Japanese/western room which was a twin bedded room with tatami matted room, very nice. But the walls were seriously marked with torn wallpaper, a bit scrappy. The bathroom was pure 1960's and in needed of an update and there were no toiletries which we had in even the cheapest hotel in Japan. The staff were pretty good, one man on reception exceptional. The buffet breakfast was very good. For a large tourist hotel it was pretty good but needs updating.

clean rooms, excellent service, spacious facilityWe stayed in at this hotel for one night in April 2019 as part of the Shikoku pilgrimage tour package with WalkJapan. The hotel is large and the rooms were very spacious. We had a tatami mat room. The wi-fi was fast. The rooms were clean and the shower was excellent. The food was delicious.

Clean rooms, good service in busy tourist hotelStayed in a traditional tatami room, nice and comfortable. Room was prepared with futon late In evening and for large busy hotel room was quiet. The large Onsen was easy to use for Westerner, clean and relaxing. Breakfast was buffet style in a large and busy banquet hall. Due to number of guests there was a small delay in available table space or buffet refill but that did not distract from the visit.

Perfect place and great Onsen RyokanVery close to both the Kotoden Kotohira station and JR Kotohira making it a convenient place both to visit the direct vicinity but also Takamatsu and even Okayama and/or the Seto islands. Great Onsen too, good food, nice japanese rooms. A very pleasant stay.

Lot of arts and cultural displays with delicious Udon nearby (Free parking for the shrine)This was a nice hotel experience for us and the price was relatively good for a ryokan. We actually got an option without the in-room meal, which we really enjoyed because of the nearby udon and freedom it gives us. the fact that they provide such an option is really a good quality of the hotel. The room was clean and the bath was quite nice. They change the baths in the morning so it is possible to experience both types of baths. One bath has a "warm" sauna rather than hot and the other bath has several different varieties of herbal baths. Walking around you can find a lot of different kinds of art and pottery, some of it very large and nice. We noticed a lot of people just ignoring all this, so it is worth stopping and taking a look around if you go to the hotel. They also had a robot in the lobby for the kids to play with. The room came with quite a few sweets and complimentary tea. More sweets than I am used to receiving in hotels, even in Japan. It also came with all the usual amenities. The staff were fine and accommodating. we had no issues. Parking was also free if you stay the night, which is much cheaper than the 1000 yen charged for people just visiting the shrine nearby.
