Go awayWe are locals who came here on April for the Chinese New Year celebration holidays. The place really looked very beautiful and interesting. But once we got in the we saw that the swimming pool has not been maintained properly and the rusty old showers in the rooms, the rock hard bed mattresses the tvs which does even get one channel Before we came into the hotel we were told that we could get the jet skis for a discount(via phone call) but after we came the jet skis were all rusted and didt even start. And the owner and the manager looked like regular hotel guests.they didt look professional at all. For the first time when I saw the owner..I thought he was the pool boy as he was wearing old clothes. But kudos to the owner he was really helpful. But the location of the hotels is really something. You get the ocean and the lagoon. If this is maintend properly this could become the hotel of the year or something. The food was Allright. You should really try the crosants which was really good but other than that It was just Allright. Nothing special

Not a good property to stay over nightNo signage at the entrance to the hotel .... Alarming .... A huge unfriendly scary gate makes you wonder if this is a hotel or a privately run bungalow , from the entrance to the main reception it's a deserted , untidy passage , no Ayubowan or a greeting by the person behind the table , no staff in uniform or a dress code , in fact one guy who seems to be the jack of all trades was in shorts .... Rooms ..... Are big but very unfriendly , does not give a hotel or a relaxing mood , no ac controller and tv is a ornament as it does not work , toilets are not clean , mirror and bidder spray etc are rusted , the doors are covered with dust , wonderful huge swimming pool , since not maintained leaf's are found on the bottom of the pool , cannot much complain of the food , even with no much choice food is ok..... The manager tries to please every one by giving complimentary offers and does his best to strike a blance to avoid complaints , very flexible in taking our own drinks including liquor and late check outs , wifi avail at the reception and bar , many Unmanned and unattended areas makes the hotel look scary , a order of club sandwiches took 2 hrs with many reminders , no phones in the room , hence cannot contact the restaurant or reception , since we requested for a triple , the 3rd bed was a bunk bed which only a kid could sleep , the usual good morning sir , good evening sir , Ayubowan etc greetings was never heard , a staff member is hardly seen in the hotel and even if there is , the staff is in his or her own clothes , very poorly managed , feel if some investment is done it could be a very attractive and a awesome hotel , have been to the same property in 2009 when it was with a different management it was well maintained and awesome .... We read the reviews before booking in 2014 and asked from the hotel about the real situation and they said , please come and you will see the reviews are all wrong , but the reality is far more than it ,

Ghost town of kosgodaDecided to stay here over the avurudu weekend in April 2014 ( having visited the property in 2010 and being happy with the stay) . Seeing many of the mixed reviews on tripadvisor we decided to call the management and see if this really was the case. They conveniently blamed the bad reviews on rival hotels in the area, which had posted such reviews out of jealousy, and assured us that the none of the reviews were true, and the hotel was in fact in premium condition. Enter kosgoda beach resort, the entrance itself was unwelcoming at the very most. Overgrown foliage, rotting doors, even the lobby area of the hotel looked like an abandoned ghost town. We decided to check the rooms before making any payments, having booked 2 triples ( left wing of the hotel, 4 rooms in that particular construction) , we were appalled by the fact that the 2nd bed in the room was in fact a camping bed with a thin mattress. The bathrooms were barely maintained, the paint having cracked off the walls, mirrors broken, faucets rusted. The consulting manager ( a friendly chap) seeing we were unhappy offered us 3 doubles instead at the same price, also marketing the idea that everybody had enjoyed the stay and the food was fantastic. Deciding to take a gamble we took up the offer and check in. On closer inspection the rooms seemed worse off than we initially believed. The tv's didn't work, light fittings had been broken and not replaced, the towels were absolutely disgusting with brown dirt patches on them and we even found a cockroach within the folds of the towel, it took the 3 attempts to replace having brought us the same set of towels twice over when we asked for a replacement. The A/C in the room my uncle was staying in stopped working in the night. The food was mediocre at best, edible, but mediocre. The pool wasn't cleaned. Even though the hotel seemed understaffed, the staff in general seemed friendly even though the service was rather sloppy. Don't expect any food orders made, to be served in anything under an hour. The location was good but very very poorly maintained. Upon leaving we were told that the hotel was in fact open for the first time to locals in that week, and was being marketed as a retreat, and was to be marketed as an eco hotel later on. Retreat or not, Eco hotel or not, the basic standards of hygiene and service should be met. And maintenance seems to be the only way this hotel can get anywhere successful. Wouldn't recommend staying here to anyone till these issues are met.
