  Second Trip to Kona Kai

  This was our second stay at the Kona Kai Motel on Sanibel Island and they have earned all of our hotel business for trips to Sanibel! On our last trip, we stayed in one of their Motel Units (Unit 9A) and enjoyed our trip as a couple. This time around, my mother had joined us so we needed a more substantial room. Finding a suite available that sleeps four guests, we booked for this past weekend. We could not have been happier with our stay. The suite was beautiful, spacious, and an extremely comfortable temperature. It featured a fully equipped kitchen (including four-burner stovetop and oven!), a comfortable living room (comfy couch!), and a nice-sized bedroom. The bathroom was on the small side, but the shower was much more comfortable than the one from their hotel style unit. We were made aware of the new precautions at the property (Extra cleaning and no one allowed into the front office) and observed the extra sanitation taking place as well. We felt comfortable the entire time we were there and once again enjoyed Kona Kai's amazing amenities and wonderful central location. If you are considering staying on Sanibel island - Kona Kai is absolutely the place to be!

  The best family vacation spot in Sanibel

  I am in love with the Kona Kai motel. It really feels like you are staying in the jungle when you are here. The staff is super friendly and accommodating. The pool is super well maintained and serene. Its a great family spot, with grills so you don't have to eat out every meal. There is a bike rental shop across the street and the beach is just a short bike ride away.

  Our favorite place to stay.

  My wife and I love to stay at the konakai. We travel to Sanibel island almost every year to escape the cold minnesota winters. We have always said we feel at home here. the staff are warm, inviting and very friendly. The cabins are always so clean and the pool is great. I would recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a quiet, clean and welcoming place to stay while on vacation.

  Quiet and cozy

  This is my second year coming to Kona Kai. The rooms are cozy, very clean, and equipped. If you meed anything, the staff is super accommodating and friendly. I love the location which os walking distance to grocery store, shops and restaurants. You can also hop on the bike, which is along the property,, to get to places. I recommend Kona Kai to my friends and family.

  Good location, basic accommodations

  Decent place in a good location, easy walking to restaurants and right off the bike path. Grounds are nicely landscaped and it feels "wild." Our neighbor saw a bobcat walking around right next to our room. Rooms are basic, we had a king efficiency with a large main room, nice bed, good amount of storage but a very small bathroom. It was self check in, saw the staff wondering around during the day but they weren't too personable, didn't talk to anyone which I thought was odd for the hospitality industry. Overall it was a fine place if you just need somewhere basic to stay.
