    Unexpectedly pleasant hotel

We decided to take a road trip when it was very busy and all the hotels/ryokan was fully book. This hotel was the only one available and nearby to nyuto onsen. I've read comments about the sewage smell, it is not sewage, its sulfur. If you dont like the smell dont stay here. The hotel cant do much about it as you can see the sulfur seeping up near the drainage and around the mountain leading up to the hotel. we didnt mind it much. The onsen was lovely, yes it smells more sulfuric and its milky blue. Ive been to many onsen but nyuto onsen for us it the best. We felt totally relaxed after a few soak. Whats totally unexpected was the dinner. They kept on coming! one after another. We had a 2 year old with us, on the first night I opted for the kid's menu, it was too much! Second night he just share our meal, since its more than 6 course! We had a car so it was ok to use as a base to venture out to Lake Towada, samurai town, etc. but i think most of the visitors that stayed at the hotel are using JTB tours and they have buses picking them up for onsens and sightseeing. Public transport from here is somewhat nonexistence. Would highly recommend that you stay here, if you cant get access to stay at tsurunuyu onsen. You can still go there on day tripper and experience the milky onsen on a bigger scale!

    Great experience

Had a great stay at this hotel, with warm and friendly staff and good onsen to relax. We pre-booked the set dinner, and it was great. Although the staff speak/understand only minimal English, they tried their best to help us with our needs. Took off 1 star due to the location and view. You may give the hotel a call before arriving as they are able to provide free shuttle service.

    Nice and clean.

is modest hotel with a beautiful surroundings. Rooms are clean and decent. Tatami and regular beds both were in the same room, very nice. However, its inconvenient that only one electric outlet and no mirror in room. Hotel internet: Powerful. Easy to connect. Hotel dinner: Set meal. Lush and beautifully presented. Hotel breakfast: Plenty of choices.

Enjoy onsen (hot spring) experience in a secluded & quiet place

This hotel is located in the heart of Nyuto Hot Spring Area (), where a bunch of traditional Japanese inns/ryokans and hotels offer nice & relaxing onsen experiences. The area in general is pretty secluded without much of public transportation, so renting a car or being on a tour offered by various travel agencies would be more convenient. What we paid for the hotel included both breakfast and dinner, which is typical for a Japanese style hotel. Breakfast was a buffet style, with plenty of choices available. Dinner was a fixed meal (i.e., you eat what the hotel chose to give you), so if you're a picky eater or have some dietary restrictions, you want to talk to them in advance so your meal can be arranged. You may also want to know that there aren't many "attractions" nearby, as the vast majority of people come to this area to soak in onsen and simply relax. Right across the street from the hotel, there is a nature walk that stretches along the surrounding mountains if you want to take a short (or long) walk. Lake Tazawa () is also one of a few places where you could venture out for hiking and such. In winter, there are a couple of ski areas if you enjoy skiing.

Very pleasant hotel and extremely kind staff

We used this hotel as part of a JR package shinkansen + hotel + lift pass. All of the hotel staff were extremely polite and full of attention for any question. We were supposed to check in at 3pm but we got the room 2 hours before so that we could get changed to go skiing. Dinner was traditional Japanese menu from Akita prefecture. Breakfast was mainly Japanese buffet but with a lot of options though. The room (tatami and futon) was very wide and comfortable. On the last day of skiing and after checking out, we were allowed to use the onsen again. Highly recommend this hotel if you go to tazawako ski resort.
