  Cycling trip

  Lovely hotel. Receptionist very helpful. Garage for bikes available with easy access. Room very spacious and comfortable. Shower very powerful and good to have a bathtub available after a long day cycling. Breakfast good. Would recommend staying here.

  an overpriced hotel

  A cold reception, a reception not really effective (she did not know the room rates) a little outdated, nice rooms but without air conditioning, a disappointment given the comments read. We did not test the breakfasts.

  Last minute bait and switch

  I planned a trip to Bavaria and Austria for 9 month in advance. This included making hotel reservations in July, 2018 for an April 2019 trip. I had reservations at the Kolberbrau for 1 night for a stop on our way back to Munich airport. The whole reason for selecting the Kolberbrau was the location directly on Marktstrasse. We wanted to be able to walk out the front door and be in the square. It was a feature highlighted extensively by the hotel. On Good Friday which is a national bank holiday in Germany as is Easter Monday, I recieved an email from the hotel informing me they would have unexpected construction during our stay and would be relocating us to another inferior property they also own away from the town square. When I pointed out how ridiculous it was they would have me believe they just decided on Good Friday to have extensive enough construction to shut down the hotel (they must be shutting down the entire hotel because they surely wouldn't displace a customer who made a paid reservation 9 months in advance) they came up with more ludicrous lies. I was fortunate enough to be able to cancel my booking after paying a penalty. I went to the Kolberbrau on the day I was supposed to stay and they appeared to be packed full with no sign whatsoever of any sort of construction. I contend the Posthotel Kolberbrau is managed by people who lie to their guests, have no concern for guests who make paid reservations months in advance and use their location as a lure to attempt to move you to another one of their properties at the very last minute. DISHONEST

  Room with a terrible view

  This is a typical German family hotel. It's a bit challenging to get to as its main entrance is located on a pedestrian zone. When going there by car, look for the P11 public parking area. Program the navigation for Nockhergasse 1 and then you're at walking distance from the back entrance of the Kolberbräu. Room was fine, but view was no where near what I expected, see photo, given that Bad Tölz is a really nice place and the hotel is located on the Main Street.

  Old hotel - Good breakfast

  The parking for this hotel is about 1 ½ blocks away from the hotel over cobblestone streets. There are two sections to this hotel. The first part in on the main street and the second part is about 2 blocks away with no elevators in this building. Make sure you know where they are going to place you. The room that we stayed was on the main street which had a very small elevator. The room was spacious, but the bed had a very old bed frame. It was two beds put together with exposed wood for about 2 feet from the headboard. The view from this room is a back alley with a stream running through it and the other window looked at a hallway from another part of this hotel. There is a good restaurant within the hotel. This is where the breakfast buffet is located which is very good. There is no safe in this hotel. We chose this hotel because it was in the centre of the town. The market street becomes a pedestrian zone after 10 a.m.
