  Well Located for Exploring Beautiful Clervaux

  Booked a Superior Double Room, incl breakfast for 4 nights using the hotels website. The hotel offers a free transfer from the train station which I requested at time of booking. As time got closer I confirmed a time for pick up. But best laid plans....There was trackwork and we were a little late, which I felt was 6 minutes late. Arrived at the station, no pickup and no taxi. (Its an unmanned station). Its about 1.2 km from the station-both bus and train- with a pavement all the way. Dragging bags it took approx 20 minutes. The guy at reception acknowledged that someone had gone to the station but left after 15 minutes. Check in was offhand and so was subsequent comments on public transport options for our day trips to Luxembourg City and Vianden. We were allocated Room 712 on the 3rd floor. We were directed to the lift, told times for breakfast, the brasserie opening and the restaurant. Our room was large and airy with a seating area and comfortable bed. There is a safe, empty fridge and tv but really no extra. Our windows are openable-there is no a/c- but they face the road out of town ie at the back of the hotel and consequently there is a lot of traffic, buses, trucks, motor bikes accelerating and decelerating all day and night. So whilst the front of the hotel faces a pedestrian zone, the back does not. When the windows are closed, noise exclusion is excellent but we needed air! Using ear plugs fixed the problem. The ensuite is large too with a shower over a deep triangular bath. The WC is within the ensuite but in a separate cubicle. Movement sensory lights are in the Ensuite. Wifi is free and fast. Everything is very clean and well maintained. Breakfast is held in the area downstairs. Its buffet style with enough choice. You can boil your own eggs but there is scrambled eggs and bacon as the hot choices. Plenty of breads and pastries. Fresh fruit salad and yogurts. Coffee sits in metal pots on your table and tasted terrible. There is, however, a hot water urn and tea bags. We did have a meal at the brasserie the first night and found it excellent food, good service and reasonable price. Upon check out we needed to get back to the station, so organized that the evening before. Dealt with a different guy who was very helpful. We got our lift back to the station, which was much appreciated. The hotel is well located for exploring the town of Clervaux. This is what we found out about public transport: The train station has a ticket machine which covers all public transport. We used a 4 ticket per day. The main bus station is adjacent to the train station car park. The walk to the train station (without bags) took about 10 minutes. There is a bus stop at the end of the pedestrian area which would get you to the train station for a trip into Luxembourg City by train. Track work was going on so there was a change, but generally its a direct train. To get to Vianden, use the bus stop and catch bus 663. A local told us that you can pay as you board the bus, however, we went to the train station and used the ticket machine and caught the bus from there.

  Nice stay with a touch of yesteryear glam

  We've spent one night here as part of an autumnal weekend holiday with a group. The rooms were OK (although a bit chilly... ) as were the bathrooms. The hotel has a general feel of yesteryear glamour and as such may appear outdated to some people. For me, it was just a little bit too much bling, but that's just me! Food was OK, breakfast offered ample choice. Nice setting near the city center, located in the pedestrian zone. Quite peacefull and quiet.

  Bad experience ...

  Rooms are functionnal, clean and large but ... Very noisy, we can hear the neigbours a LOT, walking, showering, speaking, ... No water or drinks available, not even in the minibar fridge, very limited bathroom products also. Drama fight happened in the corridors just next to my door at mid-night, impossible to sleep, slow reaction from the staff Breakfast is poor, butter was out of date and we never get a fresh one even after asking 30min waiting alone at night at the train station (feeling not really safe) although it was plan that someone will pick me on time.

  Good Spa Area!

  I went with my husband to the Hotel Koener just to use the Spa amenities. The Hotel provides a swimming pool, 2 Saunas, Jacuzzi, relaxation room, and more. I truly recommend this place for a relaxing day. It was not so many people and the staffs are helpful.
