UnresponsiveI am booked for the night of September 26, 2019. I have sent several e-mails to the hotel asking the concierges there to try to get me a restaurant reservation. The one reply I received several days ago only refers to my checking in. I even sent the hotel a screen shot from a restaurant website giving the particulars of the restaurant I want to visit. No word from the hotel about such matters as perhaps the restaurant isn't taking reservations for my date yet or that the restaurant is booked and would you like us to book another restaurant. The hotel is a member of Relais Chateaux, but you would never know it.

Outstanding in every aspectComplaining in this hotel means not having understood hospitality. Extremely friendly and polite staff, spacious rooms with all amenities you need. Quiet and of course clean. It is a very old traditional style hotel with grand hotel service and English touch furniture. The hotel only offers 30 rooms making it extremely personable. If you prefer modern Bauhaus design or interior go to a design hotel. The hotel can be very reasonable if you booked via adequate booking sites. In my case the price performance whats excellent. It was my first stay in this hotel but I will be back. Had dinner with friends in the French restaurant. Absolutely top class. Not cheap though.

Still very good, butAfter having visited here in September I returned together with my wife. The room and the service is still outstanding. Everything is very personal. Reason for my second review here is the breakfast. They claim themselves to have the best breakfast in the world. Well, I disagree. Sorry to say but every five-star hotel in China has a better breakfast. Here, you dont have any cheese, no coffee alternatives like cappuccino and the coffee they serve by the pot. You dont have the choice for any fresh egg specialties like egg Benedict, or scrambled eggs. The small fruit filet they serve is fresh but you dont have a choice from a fruit selection. You dont have any options for a second croissant or any sweets. For Japanese standards of course a very good western breakfast but not worth the big money they charge. They claim reminds me about Ikarus flying too close to the sun. Besides the breakfast, still very recommendable to stay here.

Special Anniversary Dinner PlanThe Kobe Kitano Hotel is an interesting blend of traditonal, almost quaint, and modern. A small hotel with a big heart! We have both stayed and dined there before, and no doubt will do so again. The staff are typically courteous and helpful (this is Japan!), and their French restaurant, Ash, always excellent. The Deluxe Twin room we had was nicely appointed, and the beds very comfortable, though the lighting system requires a degree in electrical engineering to work out! But not a problem. I agree with bixierg's comment regarding the breakfast now compared to a few years ago (though I was offered scrambed eggs as an alternative to their signature boiled egg), but then after a superb meal the night before, a lighter breakfast would be more than adequate.
