Perfect hotel stayWe decided that after visiting Vienna and Salzburg we wanted to experience a different side of Austria. We choose Lermoos so that we could see the mountains, be near to the castles in Bavaria and experience an Austrian village. The Hotel Klockerhof was perfect. You could not ask for better hosts than Michaela and Christian. They are genuinely kind and extremely knowledgeable. Our room was very clean, the bathroom was newly redone and the bed was super comfortable. We chose the half board option and were so happy that we did! The dinners were wonderful! Great food with good options to choose from. It was lovely to settle in at our usual table after a busy day. Breakfasts were also fabulous. Michaela and Christian recommended and helped us plan activities such as a lovely horse and sleigh ride and a cable car up the Zugspitz mountain. This was the perfect end to our Austrian vacation and because of the warm hospitality of the hosts it was our favorite part!!

Lovely hotel and hostsWe had a lovely half board week in the Klockerhof during August. The hosts, Christian, Michaela and the hotel team, were friendly, attentive and sincere from the moment we arrived to the time we checked out. The hotel is a 5 minute stroll from the main road, nearest bus stop, and the Grubigbahn cable car. It is in a quiet location, but you can easily walk to the shops, super markets, restaurants, etc of Lermoos. There is an underground car park for a limited number of cars, but there is ample parking above ground. The entire hotel was spotless and our room was large & comfortable. We had a balcony with a great view to the Zugspitze & Sonnenspitze and adjoining bathroom was large. Some Swiss friends joined us for the weekend, and they had a suite which was huge. The breakfast and dinner service was excellent. The choice and quality of food was first class. For the buffet breakfast the selection included different types of bread, cheese, sausage, meats, jams, yoghurts, eggs, cakes, fruit..... there was also scrambled egg and hot Tiroler speck. All delicious, and a breakfast to set you up for the day ahead! Our half board included a 5 course menu. This included a help yourself salad buffet, starter, soup, a choice of one of three main courses, and a dessert. There was a wide choice of wines, which were not over priced. The hotel also invite guests to 'afternoon coffee and cake' of certain days. The homemade cakes are delicious and included apple strudel. We did not make use of the hotel's spa facilities, but they looked good. We did use the table tennis table in the games room. During our stay, unfortunately the weather was not at its best. However, this did little to spoil our vacation, as there was still lots to do and see. We chose the hotel's active week, which provides a 'Z-Ticket'. This ticket allows free or reduced use of many of the area's amenities. For example, we used the ticket on numerous cable cars and chair lifts. This allowed us to walk at higher levels without having to start at the valley floor. The walk to the Seebensee and Coburger Hut was superb. The ticket also allowed you to use the cable car to the summit of the Zugspitze. You are limited to one use this cable car, as the Zugspitze Bahn is very expensive. We chose the sunniest day to go up Germany's highest mountain, and optimized the benefit of fantastic views! We also used the ticket for a boat ride on two large lakes, the Heiterwanger See and Plansee. Although it was a wet day, it was beautiful. The use of the Post and hiking buses in the area is also free. There are many more facilities which could be used including, tennis, swimming pools, summer toboggan run, and mountain scooters. Naturally, the a 3 or 7 'Z-Ticket' can be purchased separately to any accommodation. It costs a little over 70 euros for the 7 day ticket, but the value is easily recovered if you use the areas amenities. For example, the cost of the Zugspitze cable car is more than 50% of the value of the Z-ticket. The area is close the Bavarian castles, such as Neuschwanstein, Hohenschwangau, and Linderhof. On one of the rainy days we drove to Schloss Linderhof and a monastery at Ettal. We had an excellent holiday in a great hotel with lovely hosts. We look forward to returning!

Amazing Family Owned HotelHotel Klockerhof located in Lermoos is a phenomenally run hotel in the Austrian countryside. My wife and I had the pleasure of staying here for a few days while traveling on our honeymoon throughout the Bavaria/Tyrol area. Reserving a room from the USA was painless and all done via email to the owners which I found easily on their website. From what I learned through my research before booking this hotel is that it has long roots of being a family operation. I believe the father of the current owners opened this hotel and now his kids run it. Their names are Christian and Michaela. Once we arrived we soon realized the Klockerhof hospitality would be something we would not forget. Our trip to Hotel Klockerhof started with a high speed drive (150 MPH+) via the A-95 Autobahn from Munich, Germany. We made stops along the way at places like Ettal Abbey and Linderhof Palace. We took longer than planned on our pit stops so we arrived to Lermoos late; like around 8:00 PM (20:00). At arrival we pulled up in front and could clearly see in the windows people sitting down to dinner eating. We were slightly worried we would missed our first meal which for us was included with our stay. Frantically unpacking and walking into the lobby Michaela was there waiting for us. She greeted us and warmly welcomed us to the hotel. She reassured us we had not missed our dinner and that we could unpack then come back down to the dining room for dinner. She also gave us a quick tour of the hotel and walked us to our room. I was quite surprised she even let me park my car right in front of the lobby! Our stay at Hotel Klockerhof was wonderful. Our assigned waitress, Sisi (spelling ?) who waited on us for dinner. She was excellent and really added to the overall charm of the hotel. She was very friendly and liked talking to us. I might add the whole staff spoke very good English. The food here was excellent but the Tyrolean specialties and other local dishes were the best. My wife always talks about the apple strudel. Our room was nice but I did not like the size of the shower. Maybe I am just accustomed to showers here in the USA but I am 6 1 and felt extremely claustrophobic in the shower here. Christian was a great host as well and usually ran the bar at night. He served as a great translator for us when we were chatting with other hotel guests and answering questions we had about the area. The town of Lermoos was great and scenic. The hotel was walking distance to the center of town which has a small variety of shops and resturants. Very close to a lot of things we wanted to drive to such as Neuschwanstein Castle, Zugspitze, etc Overall, we very much enjoyed our stay and the hospitality. We look forward to our next trip to the region and we have already put this down as a stop as we further explore the area.

Standard four star with own dis-/ and advantagesFor some reasons I would give it very good but in general rather say that it average for its level as a four star hotel. Unfortunately we could not visit wellness area- thats why can't say anything regarding. Our room was in the older building. So room was clean but not outstanding, hair dryer was not properly working. All aside, the biggest disadvantage - smell of food and fried eggs from the kitchen fully embraces our room in the morning. Additionally we could very well and clearly hear each intimate sound of our neighbours. Bath and sauna cloth was provided in our room for each person - which is remarkable. Breakfast was guite average, but the cook was serving fried eggs, bacon, etc. and a hoyel staff was paying attention to each table, which shows good quality of service in a hotel.

Very nice experienceThe brother and sister owner/operators are wonderful hosts that are engaging, enthusiastic and helpful. Despite booking 7 months in advance, there was no availability other than the Edelweiss room. We stayed in room #22, which was on the back side of the hotel. I was happy with the room which was comfortable and clean and had balcony views of the Zugspitze and surrounding mountains. We had the windows open and the only small negative of the room was the noise early in the morning from staff arrival and delivery trucks. The Hotel has many repeat guests year after year which explains why room availability may be limited and it is such a great place to stay. Fantastic value. The food is traditional Tyrolean cuisine and it was deliciously different with plenty of choice. I loved that we had the same table for our entire stay. It allowed us to get friendly with people we sat next to at breakfast and dinner. Good location to visit the Zugspitze and Neuschwanstein Castle. Hiking is the major attraction in the summer.
