Like watching monkies with suits on....This was a REALLY confusing experience for me. The grounds of Voco are really beautiful! Unfortunately that's where my praise ends. The staff are clueless on fine dining and/or luxe hospitality. It was like watching monkies with suits run around as they quiet literally have no idea what they're doing. Some looked like they were on day release from the local prison. Everything felt a bit forced - lengthy delays became common in every area of the property, from check in, to check out, to breakfast, to the bar. One night we waiting over 30 an hour for 2 drinks, and the place wasn't particularly busy. The room had the squeakiest floorboards I've ever heard. Moreover, several sections of the property are showing major signs of wear and tear. The pinnacle was the recommendation of 'Cessnock Taxis' for our dinner reservation (a disaster unto itself). All in all I would expect more when paying $500+ a night. The whole property is confused. If you want to present a çlean and comfortable stay (and that be it) the rate needs to be reviewed.

DisappointingI stayed at this hotel with a friend in November 2020. The hotel appeared nice but was quite disappointing. The room was so dusty I found it hard to breathe and had to complain to reception. We were unable to stay for dinner on the first night as the restaurant was closed and we couldnt get a table in the bar. The next evening we booked a table but were placed out in the conservatory, which was very cold and unappealing. When we spoke to the restaurant staff they told us we had a booking in the main restaurant but the server wasnt able to find it when we first arrived and by that time we had already finished our meal. I wouldnt recommend this hotel as the cleaning is not up to scratch, however the surrounding area is very attractive And it is close to the vineyards and other attractions.

High teaFor my sisters hens party yesterday we had a high tea at Kirkton park, it was amazing! The food was lovely and all staff very friendly. Special thanks to our waiter Kale, he ran the cocktail making class for us and attended to our every need including taking some photos for us in the rose garden. His service was outstanding! Will definitely be returning for another high tea!

Productive Corporate RetreatThis was a venue for a corporate retreat and it hit all the right spots: - A well appointed function room - Switched on staff, who produced coffee to kick start the day and tasty food for all the breaks - Great rooms with views of the Hunter hills - A relaxing pool area & golf for some downtime The only thing that let it down was the limited catering outside the event, including a barely edible breakfast. Hopefully, this was a rare slip up.

Nice location & facilitiesWe booked a superior room for two nights. The hotel room was nice and had all the amenities you would normally accept (BYO knife for the cheese). The room over looked the rose garden which was in full bloom and lovely to look at, especially as it faced west, was great at sunset. Although there was some traffic that walked through the rose garden the sheer curtain gave the room some privacy. Our package included breakfast which we ordered off a menu (no buffet due to covid) but there was only two available sittings from 6:30-8:00 and 8:30-10:00. The breakfast was basic but was perfect for what we were after. We did the high tea which was really nice, the scones were freshly made and literally fell out of our hands, however the waitress then told us that all the hot food was frozen (we assumed it was frozen but didn't really need to be told as you would like to think what you are eating is 'fresh'). We made a booking at the lounge bar for dinner well in advance, however when we went only lounge tables were available which did not suit us as we were eating. Instead we were placed in the conservatory by ourselves as they could not accommodate a table for us. The staff seemed to be somewhat flustered with countless used glasses and cups just sitting at the bar (approx 30 glasses) and staff chatting about how long they had been at work for and helping themselves to coffees etc. We ordered two pizzas which were great but the food came out before the drinks. When I checked out the receptionist wanted to charge my card again for the booking which I confirmed it had already been charged. The hotel charges a $50 per night 'bond' when you pay (you get this back) and also a 1.5% card fee (please be aware of this when paying). Overall the experience was nice, the staff at times seemed to be flustered and unsure of what was going on which as a customer was noticed, however they were all very friendly and welcoming.
