  Unusual

  We enjoyed our one night stay ,the room was warm and the bed very comfortable. We ate in the restaurant in the evening, basic but enjoyable food .We had the continental breakfast which suited us. The owner was always very attentive . It was unusual as there was a room at the rear which housed antiques , which you could purchase.

  Arrived late with a terrible thirst.

  After a very stressful day and leaving later than planned from Dram Cottage at Sandend in Banffshire we arrived at 11pm tired and thirsty after a long drive. We received a very friendly welcome from the owner and his two dogs. He kept the bar open so that we could enjoy a couple of pints each before heading for bed. The twin room was very comfortable and scrupulously clean. We rose and had breakfast at 8am by which time the rest of the guests had left. We were then shown the huge exhibition area of antiques, collectables and curios which was an unexpected delight and just my kind of thing. Our host was very kind man who I am sure had led a very interesting life before taking on the role of hotel owner with his wife. I shall definitely stay there again and try to find out more about the history of Kirkconnel Hall and it's owners including the present incumbents. Stuart and Duncan

  HOTEL WITH HISTORY

  We were amazed with this hotel, we stayed as the last part of our holiday breaking up a long drive from the Scottish Highlands to Home in Basildon Essex. The hotel itself has some history about it which you will find out when you get to your room. My Daughter was going to stay at another hotel but once she saw Kirkconnel hall she changed hotels and booked the only available room which was the honeymoon suite. The welcome was second to none. The hotel was spotlessly clean throughout and the meal we had in the evening was perfect. Breakfast was continental and again service couldnt be beaten - well done all

  Home From Home

  We stayed here in May this year on a return trip to the Scottish Highlands. We were so impressed with the hotel, the service, the food and drink that we decided to stay at the hotel whilst visiting Carlisle and the surrounding area. We cannot add much to the previous review accept to say that throughout the week of our stay the owner and his wife were magnificent you would of thought we were family it was that friendly. Our grandson who is autistic settled in the hotel and loved the little dogs. If you want a friendly welcome and comfortable stay with excellent service you cannot go far wrong here. look forward to staying again next year

  Home from home with soul and heart

  What is there to say.. A home from home feel that you have to experience it to understand the special features of this amazing hotel! the best way to explain it all in one statement is.. uniquely exquisite!! Charming owners!! Can't do enough for the customers!! and I have been to many hotels in the past.. All over the UK and the world! Humble yet steeped in history and yet unique in content that you are noticing things on every corner of this amazing hotel the best around and it's like a great untouched and unfound and secret gem of a place to stay!
