    Fantastic Weekend in Minakami

Loved our stay from the very warm and gracious welcome to the departure. Booked a room on the second floor and had a great view over the garden, rotenburo and river 20m away. The sound of water rushing buy and the beautiful autumn leaves was wonderful. Room was very spacious and clean including large wash basin/vanity and private toilet. Balcony with seating for 2 and small sitting area in a bay window was lovely to take in nature and view. Area was silent. Onsen on L1 was very nice, clean and well equipped. Outdoor bath was very pleasant in Autumn. Kaiseki dinner served in room, server was wonderful, warm and friendly. Food was extensive and delicious focusing on local products. Breakfast was also served in room and was very extensive and of high quality. Would recommend as a good Ryokan and represents good value.

One of the Best Experiences Ever

One of the great things about Japan, other than their efficiency, is their attention to detail. The ability to discern that you are in the care of excellent staff who will attend to all your needs without even knowing you yourself needed these things. Kinseikan Seseragi. I stayed here July 25th to July 28th, a relative short time, but an oh so valuable experience, I have already started fashioning excuses for me to get back there. Upon entry, you are warmly welcome by staff, who know enough english to serve you, but more importantly you feel this sudden insane desire to just let go of the world. I'm not sure if it's the quiet setting on a hill, or the surrounding water in a mountain stream, but it has a wonderful effect. This is al before you enter the room. The rooms are wonderful, there aren't many rooms, so make sure you book in advance, but they are a sight to behold. Beautiful, spacious and again comfortable. Though some travellers may pine for a bed, which is not there, the tatami mats and the mattresses they bring out at night are as comfortable as ever. The food provided is plentiful and delicately prepared in ways on Japanese know how. I was there by myself, and i was give two squares each day fit for maybe a family of four Asians. I was well fed. But of course the best part really is the hot springs. They separate them by Gender, and they are worth of a daily/nightly soak. If you're not into the sharing space, there is a 24hr private hotspring bath on the 2nd floor that more than does the trick. I spend the weekend at Fuji Rock Fest, and nothing made smile more than soaking my aching body in that little bath. Go there, it's beautiful, romantic, relaxing and comfortable. It's a slight trek to get there from Echigo Yuzawa station (there is a train change, and then a hotel shuttle till 5pm (or a taxi ride)), but it's absolutely worth it. Go, do it, book it now. You will not be dissappointed.

    Very Calming

On arrival the staff were very welcoming and catered to our every need in a friendly and unobtrusive manner. The hotel setting is in a very quiet location with all rooms over looking the river and hillside and the rooms are spacious and clean, yet nicely and uniquely what you'd expect from a good ryokan. We found the natural state of the grounds and surroundings to be very relaxing together with the hypnotic sound of the river from our room. Evening meal was served in a private room in the restaurant and was delicious. A good selection of local Japanese cuisine. We finished the evening with an onsen bath together by the river, with not another sole in sight. I think we will be returning!
