    Once in a lifetime experience

This onsen is located far above the Hakone train station, making transportation to/from it a bit difficult. We booked a private shuttle (TRF service) from the airport, which took about 2.5 hours. The driver and mini-van did not match the luxurious level of the hotel, though it was quite expensive. Once there, you step into a truly luxurious experience, even by Japanese standards. Our room had a private onsen that looked over a pond surrounded by snow-tipped bamboo trees. It was like a scene from a movie. The inns people were quite nice and tried their best at English, though there were a few hiccups. I ended up setting out one of the futons myself after I could not communicate to them that I wished it to be set up. However, that was the only hiccup. The food was gorgeous and delicious, and they had kids meals with more palatable food choices for the children. I booked it as a once-in-a-lifetime treat but find myself dreaming of going back again!

    Not worth it!

The stay was Ok but not worth it. The in room food service was an expirience but unfortunatrly, the food was not good. On top of the price they took 10 just to sit in the bar. Recommendation: spend your money somewhere else.

    Japan Trip 2017

Stayed at this Onsen Ryokan for one night. This place is awesome! Nice rooms with Kaiseki dinner and breakfast. Rooms are large and roomy. Best part is the private onsen in your room!!! Soaked in it night and morning! The view from my room was great! The workers were professional and polite. Definitely would stay here again and again!

One of the worst ryokan i ever stayed at

I been to Japan several times (10+) over the past few years and stayed at numerous ryokan throughout Japan. This place was the worst ever, nightmare. - The photo from their website is not reflective of the current condition. The whole ryokan is very badly maintained. I even saw rats running around outside via my window. - The dining in my room have bad ventilation which resulted in very oily residual smell - Housekeeping was poor, for the price i paid 80k yen per night. I don't think this is acceptable. - The food is below average - The room i stayed at, which is their suite have their only toilet bowl outside of the room at the open rooftop. There is zero shelter so everytime i go to toilet, i feel so cold. Because there is no shelter, i can't even go to toilet when it is raining!

    Best customer service ever

I cannot rate Kinnotake high enough. I am extremely appreciative of the customer supports being offered at Kinnotake Sengokuhara. My son was extremely ill during our 2 days stay and one of the staffs Kawata San went to the hospital and help us to translate to the local doctors. Without Mr Kawata San's generosity help, we will not be able to call the emergency and get help. Besides the exceptional customer services, the hotel is also extremely clean and at a very convenient location. I will highly recommend this to any future travellers.
