Have very low expectations....or stay somewhere elseWe were told by several friends and family that Kingwood Hotel is the best in Sibu. If this is the case, then I dread to think what the other hotels are like. I do not know if my standards are skewed coming from the UK but even budget hotels like Travel Lodge here are far far better. We attended for a family wedding and stayed two nights- and booked at least 12 rooms all together. All the rooms were of a similar standard, so it wasn't just a one off. I had high hopes initially as the lobby seemed quite clean and modern. The rooms however were another story. Although spacious, it was very very dated with poor maintenance. The walls were peeling paint. There was a hole in the bathroom wall from where the shower rail attached. The shower condition just looked old. There was water drainage issues that required a maintenance man to come and look at. And even after it was fixed, there was a constant unpleasant stench of poorly draining water. The windows leaked after raining. The towels were very thin and they only provided one per person. If you require another towel, it costs ringgit. A Duluxe Single room (one double bed) only had two very thin lumpy pillows, whilst a Duluxe Double room (two single beds) had four lumpy pillows. Again, requesting an extra pillow costs ringgit. There were ants all around our room, especially the bathroom and the kettle area. There was also a large cockroach in the bathroom that quickly scuttled away through one of the holes in the bathroom walls! But at least the air con worked! The poor condition of the room just set a very unpleasant atmosphere for the whole room. I found it difficult to relax because everything did not feel clean. If it wasn't because of the wedding that we were attending, I would have just checked out and found alternative accommodation.

Nice Comfortable Rooms.Friendly receptionist. Room was great and spacious. Nice view of the River.. easy to get grab to anywhere around the town as its in the town itself. Breakfast was not up to the standard I expected maybe due to the reason they do not want to serve buffet during the covid 19 pandemic. Nevertheless one of the best hotels in sibu. Worth the stay
