    Good bar meals

Regularly call here when heading north on holiday. Good food and speedy service. Staff friendly, good value and well presented. No carpark, but easy to park on the road nearby. A range of beers available.

    Really nice dog friendly hotel.

Please look beyond the fact that this hotel needs some cosmetic work, which has already started. The food is really good and very reasonably priced. The towels are as big and fluffy as any you would find in a 5 star place and the bed linen is beautiful. The staff are very attentive and any request is dealt with promptly and politely. Both ourselves and our dog would go there again if in the area.

    Kings Arms Stay

Hotel situated in the middle of Lockerbie, I found it lacking in staff, reception was not manned and I was a point of having to find someone to check in. No lift so if you are disabled, this is not a hotel for you, there are 2 disabled parking spaces outside but I think that was more by luck of being next door to the local council office. Parking is very restricted with a long walk from the local car park if you are not familiar with the town. Rooms are small & take me back to pre 2000, bedding had holes in it but to be fair, I was tired, so it seemed to be a comfortable nights sleep, the shower was underwhelming, nothing more to be said about that. Dog friendly it may be but it was very poorly maintained, the hotel is in desperate need of being brought into the 21st century, the restaurant was closed, the only option to eat was in the bar, not a great choice on menu, had to go elsewhere for food, Breakfast would of redeemed the place until a cleaner came through the dining room with a mop bucket smelling of disinfectant, there must of been another tap in the building to access water & tip the bucket out...although not much to write home about, for American visitors, being as they will visit Lockerbie for obvious reasons, they may find the rustic charm appealing.

    Family meal

Its hard to find many places in Lockerbie to get really good food, and having eaten at The Kings Arms , many times some years ago, I was hoping for a OK meal. The back bar is very dark, with old wood and small windows, no curtains on the rails. As you enter the first thing you notice is a large dirty mirror back of the bar. The menu has popular pub favourites, I had the Steak and ale pie with mashed tatties and veg', my partner and sister in law had the Haggis Tatties and Nipes, and un fortunately the turnip was cold, which was a shame. After a reheat It returned and was enjoyed. But The grubbiness and lack of attention to detail, was a little off putting. So while the food was ok, I wont be rushing back I think its a work in progress, and has potential to be a nice eatery, but it is in need of some work.

    good lunch

First time visit to the hotel , we wanted lunch and gave it a go , lovely and warm near the log burner and pleasant music . It is an old hotel so yes a little tired but the seats were fine and the tables etc clean , a few guests and other people in for lunch so not dead . Decent menu with enough choices , so we ordered two starters an two mains ( really good that every main has a small and large option , wish more places did this ) food was hot, good visually and tasty , the small option with a starter was perfect (plus drinks ) and we both had clean plates then the bill at well under £30 was good value . The barman was very cheer full and even ran after us when my wife dropped her hat , so we will definitely eat here again
