  Worth staying here for the view alone

  We stopped here on the last night of a quite rushed roadtrip from Sydney to Melbourne and back home in five days! We arrived at dusk, and could only see the full moon lighting the clouds and the lights of Merimbula below. The next morning we got the full majesty of sunrise and the gorgeous view, along with lots of Rainbow Lorikeets, Galahs, a cockatoo or 3, ibis and the sheep in the paddock below! Even though we have regular birds in our garden, this was an abundance of Australian natives. The bed was comfortable, a lovely table and chairs (where we enjoyed our t/a fish and chips) great small balcony with table and chairs, lots of towels, and a nice lot of shelf space. All in all a wonderful spot to stop and spend a night or two, even if at first sight it is a little dated (and the owner is lovely and super helpful)

  A great motel with excellent views

  The title of this review is meant to be a little amusing - we were recently evacuated from our home (in Wyndham NSW) due to the NSW South Coast bushfires. Janine, the lovely owner of the Kingfisher, was able to find us a room for the 3 nights that we were away from home The view from our room WOULD'VE been excellent - out over the sea - but for the pall of smoke and ash from the fires. The Kingfisher is in a good location - on the hill overlooking Merimbula - has good off-road parking, and the rooms are clean and comfortable. It's only a short drive into Merimbula town centre, with local cafes and restaurants (not that many of these were open due to the fires!) and there's sightseeing aplenty along the Sapphire Coast. You'll also see lots of local birdlife from your rear balcony. Room rates are good, and, as mentioned, your host Janine will take excellent care of you!!

  Lovely Seaside Escape

  I stayed here with my mother prior to the bushfires reaching the South Coast area, We had been advised to try the place by a lovely couple that ran the local Bakery in Alice Street, we had no idea where to stay so they directed us here. Took us back to what Seaside holidays used to be, and a delightful stay was had by all, we will definitely stay here again when we visit the area and would highly recommend the motel.

  Wonderful location at great value

  Stayed here close to New Year and was wonderfully surprised. Beautiful outlook over Merimbula, nice and quiet location, room was clean and welcoming. Had to leave early due to border closure, and Janine kindly waived the extra day that we couldn't stay, very understanding and a fantastic host.

  Absolutely wonderful

  5 stars all the way. The Kingfisher is delightful. Views, local wildlife and beautifully maintained. The best part is the hosts, so welcoming and warm. A charming place and relaxing stay. Cant wait to come back.
