3D2N Stay: Old, comfortable, 5 mins walk from Ximen station

Location 5/5: Not as close as some of the hotel to Ximen station with higher rating, but it's less than 5 mins walk from the station and easily reach many amenities and shops at Ximending. If you are like me love to wander around Ximending, this is a great location. There's 7-11 and one of the best beef noodle shops (Indeed, taste excellent) just opposite the entrance, and family mart located few blocks away on the same row. Opposite the road from family mart is a 2 storey Starbucks. There's no lacking of foods & restaurants around there. Few mins walk to reach Ximending. Service: The receptionist is really friendly and happy to serve me. Not sure about their level of English as I communicate with Mandarin only. One of the light bulb in the room was spoil and the technician apologized and tried his very best to fix it even though I told him it's alright. Environment: The hotel located on 7th & 8th floor. You need to take a lift to 7th floor reception to register. Before reaching the lift, you need to walk few meters into a scary & old building. Once you reach 7th floor, it's a total different atmosphere before you reach here. Looks small but tidy with slight feeling of elegance. The VIP room is not as big as expected, but the facilities are just right. Queen size bed, pillow and blanket is really comfy and clean. There's TV that connected to limited channels. Some tea bags and coffee powder with thermo, and a mini fridge. The receptionist told me that there are drinks available in the fridge, but it's actually just two bottles of plain water. Cosmetic table with a chair and another low table with a longer but not-so comfortable chair. Bathroom is okay except the bath area looks scary as it's obviously not being maintained for years. Same goes to some part of the wall that are is cracked. Overall room feeling is not bad but not giving me the real VIP feel. More like a better room than the average one. Some reviews say it's really noisy which is my main concern before booking. My room located right next to the reception. It's slightly noisy when the receptionists talk. I can hear some funny noise too from the next room but not too much of a problem for me so far. But perhaps not too good if you have a family with children. If you wonder about the window views, there is a window but nothing can be seen other than back alley of some building. Breakfast: Just like many reviews, the breakfast is not worthy at all. I checked the breakfast that day, they only serve white bread with jam beside it, sausages, ham and "mantou" (white bun, not sure what;s inside). And a coffee & tea machine. Seats is limited to 4 or 5 tables. Not sure if it's okay to take the breakfast to the room but you definitely deserve better breakfast out there. At least go to 7-11 or family mart located very near to the hotel.

    Good value for money

Thats a real good place to stay in Ximen. Room is spacious (bigger than in other places). Have a balcony. Spacious bathroom with all utensils you may need. Coffee machine at breakfast. When we were staying there no any noise just a loud AC but that was not a big deal. The only problem was dirty welcome towel on the bathroom floor. Best value for money for Taiwan.

    Great value hotel

Located in the busy ximen district, the hotel is conveniently located with easy access to the Taipei Metro, shops, and eating places. The room rates are great value, the rooms are clean and spacious. Breakfast, though, is very spartan.

Don't be put off by external appearance

King Shi is in great location in Xi Men Ting. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and so provide good value for money , especially of you are just looking for a room in a great location. Don't be put off by the exterior as it is located in the 7th floor of a old, grey and dirty looking building. It serves a very small and simple breakfast spread from 8am. But there are plenty of places to have breakfast in the area if you are looking for something more. The staff are not particularly friendly but it wasn't a big issue for us as we were there just for the room. Do note that it is also known as Jin Shuai hotel on certain websites.
