Delightful hotel with very hospitable staffThis is a very pleasant hotel. It is a solid 3 star property, well maintained, with large rooms. The rooms are extraordinarily quiet and equipped with roll-shutters. The hotel projects back from the main road, and the hotel building is actually constructed over a small river, so you don't hear road traffic in the rooms, just the sound of the river. All of the employees at this hotel are very courteous, very hospitable, and very gracious. Just about everyone speaks English well. Room prices are extraordinarily low for this part of the Black Forest - I paid 45 for a single room and breakfast, and that is about 20 below the going rate for this neighborhood. The restaurant serves good food, and there is a wide range of items to choose from at breakfast. Wi-Fi internet access is free, but the Wi-Fi signal at the rear of the hotel (rooms furthest away from the road) can sometimes be too weak to maintain a connection. If it is essential to you that you have Wi-FI connectivity in your room, check the signal strength before you accept the assigned room. No problems with the Wi-Fi in all the common areas, or on the patio outside. All in all, a delightful hotel, I will gladly return.

Excellent hotel, brilliant restaurant.Stayed for one night as a solo traveller. The night before staying I had emailed the hotel asking about local train times, on arrival, the owner had looked out a timetable for me and was able to advise on the best routes to take to my destination. Such a nice thing to do and made a great first impression. Check-in was quick and efficient, the owner also took time to explain and provide me with a Konus card (a lot of places just charge you the tax and don't give you a card). I was given a large room with a balcony overlooking the street. The room was well equipped and very clean with excellent wifi and a large shower. I decided to dine in the hotel restaurant and was glad I did so. The portions were huge and very tasty, the bill was also very reasonable. I would highly recommend eating here to any visitor of Bad Griesbach. I had a very quiet and comfortable night and breakfast the next morning was excellent with hot and cold options. I didn't have the chance (or room in my bag) but the hotel also sells several local spirits and Schwarzwald gin by the bottle. Hikers! I stayed here whilst walking the Westweg from Pforzheim. If any readers are planning the same, I would bear in mind that there is a significant drop in height from the path to the town which isn't very clear on German 1:50000 mapping. There is, however, also a train station... ;)

The Best Black Forest Gateaux tasting of them allWe stopped at this excellent clean and modern hotel not to stay but to sample the owners personal recipe Black forest Gateaux . This is the real thing, home made on the premises, my wife is a bit of a pastry cook herself and knew what a BFG should be like (which i not what you usually see in the shops outside the area) and this is for real. There were perhaps 40 of us on the tour and after drinks were served the gateaux appeared, massive cakes close to 18 inches across,a very thin biscuit base to hold the layer of light cake and cherry filling and the whole thing coated in more than a half inch of cream on top and sides. Huge slices were served to all,and little was left on any plate at the end.Requests for the recipe were rewarded with the chef giving the details to our tour guide to pass on. We left happy and full with the owner coming down to the street to wave us off. Not expensive but not cheap either but good value for money.

The best peopleThe Hotel is clean and great looking with a mix of old and modern style, very well done! The people are just the best, they care for you, they are always ready to answer questions and to help out! The breakfast is nice with lots of options. The dinner is just fantastic, amazing quality food for a fair price. The room is very nice with a large bed and a modern bedroom. Everything is super well cleaned. Had a great stay and will definitely visit again!

great breakfastpros: pretty nice hotel and staff. breakfast was excellent and of high quality. there were hand sanitizers available just outside the restaurant. cons: price was steep. bed was too soft and we didn't sleep well at all. the black-out curtains did not cover the whole window. hotel was by a main road so you could hear noise. it's during covid times, one would expect that the hotel restaurant would open the outdoor seating area in summer for breakfast. However, it was closed. everyone was crammed into the restaurant with all windows closed and it was like a corona party. Luckily they heeded our insistence on sitting outdoors. I don't get why restaurants insist on closing the outdoor area (I suppose it's cos they are lazy and don't want to clean the area) during covid times. This is why Germany has so many cases.........
