Welcoming and homelyI dont write reviews often, however we stayed for one night at Kilworthy and they went above and beyond to make us feel at home. We arrived late and they were accommodating in allowing us to check in late. The room was large and well equipped. Proper full breakfast in the morning and they couldnt have been more helpful in making sure we were comfortable. Set within a beautiful old building and very peaceful surroundings. Thank you - wed recommend for sure

Flies and a hostile responseIf you enjoy flies and hostile owner, it's great. Unlike the rest of the stay, we were greeted warmly by the lady who runs the place - very comfortable welcome and we were more than happy with her service - no issue with her at all. However, when we came back late to head to bed, we noticed dozens of flies in the room (windows all closed). We killed approximately 30-40 flies between us with towels (a nice relaxing bedtime activity). They kept coming from somewhere until we gave up to try and sleep. As you can imagine; buzzing and landing on your face at night not that great, nor is avoiding the now-dead flies when heading to the loo. We were pretty disgusted going to bed to be honest and put our toothbrushes in a bag for obvious reasons. In the morning we went to check out and complained that the room had a fly problem and the word-for-word responses from the male owner included: "What do you want ME to do about it?!" and "This is the countryside, there are flies!". Now, we have stayed in the countryside ten or fifteen times before and the flies we're generally kept outside - but what do I know?... He was immediately defensive and hostile. So much so that other guests told us they could hear his grim attitude from upstairs. Not only did he not apologise or take responsibility, he bizzarely seemed to try blaming us: "There werent any in there yesterday." Finally he stormed into the room and within 1 second said "Where they too now, then?", implying there were none and we were making it up. Almost immediately, a fly embarrasingly buzzed directly in front his angry face as my wife then showed him the bathroom, where there were about 20 visible flies at that time. The wording changed to "It's unfortunate, nothing I can do about it." No apology, just the pits of customer service. I should have taken his name, but wasn't in the mood to reason with the unreasonable any more, so we just left. If he's reading this now, I'm going to help him out with a Customer Service 101 script: 'Oh dear, I'm terribly sorry, that's something we'll get right onto with some fly repellant and will look at identifying the source. Apologies for the insects and we really appreciate your feedback.' And if you're feeling like you want repeat business from customers with legitimate complaints: 'Here's a partial refund for your poor experience'. To add insult to injury he ran out to us as we were packing the car asking for our card for payment. We had already paid when we booked, months before hand. Personally I dont think 50+ flies in your bedroom is a reasonable amount of flies, but then again I dont know where they go on holiday. I usually expect 0-2 flies on average, but that's just my preference. In the end, if you have no issues here, it'd be a fine place to stay, but if you have any issue, hold onto your hat as you're in for a not-so-fun confrontation. One star (and thats for the Sandra who was very pleasant).

Fantastic stayWe had a 5 day stay on a family holiday, we booked all three rooms. The owners were so warm and friendly and nothing was too much effort for them. The rooms were lovely and we thoroughly enjoyed a delicious breakfast every morning. Would definitely stay again!!

Very remote & ramshackleThis farmhouse needs an awful lot of money spent on it top of the list should be central heating, was very cold in my room the bathroom & the breakfast room, very remote no one there when I arrived had to wait half an hour for the host to return, very grateful to have an evening meal both evenings she was a good cook, very serious problem the first night with one of the quests which totally distracted her from her other quests wasn't available the following morning at breakfast so left to her husband a good farmer he may be a B & B host not so good, wouldn't stay again too remote & too cold
