  A Decent 3 Star Hotel

  The KhmerRoyal Hotel is located on The Riverfront near the Royal Palace. It is situated on a stretch of the main road where there are numerous cafes, restaurants, massage places, retail stores and other hotels. Not a bad location but I prefer the opposite end of the Riverwalk--just a preference. The KhmerRoyal should be acceptable to the budget conscious traveler. It has a lift. My room on the second floor was quite large but without a river view and was less desirable. It's worth a few dollars more for a room with a view of the promenade and the river traffic. The mattress was very firm. The linens were average. Two pillows are provided. The A/C worked fine. There was no safe in my room which was disappointing. It had a small desk with a tea kettle on top but no tea. Two small bottles of water are provided daily and can be kept in the small refrigerator. There were several electrical outlets and plenty of drawer space. A large wardrobe-like closet was in the room. The Interior door lock was broken. The bathroom needed improvement due to age. There was a fairly large tub with a shower head. Hot water was plentiful and was scalding hot. Be careful!!The flush valve on the toilet was difficult to operate--it had to be held during the flush cycle. The lavatory fixture was loose but worked fine. Toiletries were minimal and of low quality--shampoo, foam bath gel, a comb and a toothbrush. The staff was attentive & friendly on arrivals and departures.The on-site restaurant was ok and offered many culinary styles. ATMs are on premise. WiFi was reliable and fast. Overall, despite the few short-comings, the KhmerRoyal served my needs quite well with minimal inconvenience.

  Great Location

  This hotel is located right next to the Royal Palace in the heart of the river activity. It is a great hotel for its value. It appears that renovations are ongoing now but once they are completed this will be a very nice accommodation. Beds are very comfortable.

  Worst Hotel In Phnom Penh

  Absolutely terrible accommodation, there was a dead bird outside of my hotel room door for approx 5 days, was there when I checked in and still there when I checked out. Took 2 days to get towels in my room even though I asked roughly 4 times each day. Ordered food from down stairs 4 times and was told 30-40 minutes after ordering that the food I had ordered was not available, I asked if I could order something else only for staff to come back a further 20 minutes later and tell me the chef had gone home. Room came with a breakfast option daily that I had prepaid for and found out each morning that breakfast was not available that day. Staff were rude, arrogant and treated me like a "back packer" I can not recommend 1 good thing about this hotel as there are literally 40 hotels within a 200m radius which are cheaper and in better condition.
