  Enjoyable stay with great hosts

  A detached house ,situated in a quiet pleasant urban area within easy walking distance of the Richmond shopping mall and the nearby 4 or 5 restaurants.It has on site gated parking. There are 4 upstairs en suite bedrooms and one downstairs.The house is well appointed ,clean and tidy.The welcome was warm.There was facility to make tea ,coffee with biscuits available .Our upstairs bedroom was quiet and the bed very comfortable.We were very fortunate to be looked after by Mike and Jo - standing in for the owner.They could not have been more helpful.They gave us a list of places to go which was just right.They checked on the weather and ferry crossings for others during cyclone Gita. They also provided an excellent breakfast which was cereal,fruit and a cooked meal to order.This is a highly recommended place well worth stopping off at.

  Fantastic place to stay

  This is a beautiful old house, with lovely rooms. The breakfast was good. Our host was excellent. He was so helpful in helping us organise our day at Abel Tasman Park and in recommending restaurants nearby, within walking distance. A real treat

  Okay as a Bed and Breakfast

  Strong points: a really very good breakfast, served in a small lounge with fine china and exceptional coffee; location very near a mall and a high street. Weak points: this is basically an older, not very large house (not a manor as you might think from the description) with basic furnishings and simple bathroom.

  Excellent accommodation close to Richmond

  We stayed for just one night on our way down the west coast and wish we could have stayed longer. The house is of 1920s style in a quiet setting and has only four en-suite rooms. Walking distance to a choice of good restaurants in central Richmond. Cooked breakfast to order. Great advice about places to visit on our onward journey.

  An excellent stay

  Stayed for three nights. The house is a bit like a Tardis, much bigger from the inside. Lovely woodwork and leaded windows in the hall and landing. We had a very nice large room upstairs, double aspect with plenty of light with the largest windows facing onto the garden. Comfy bed, powerful shower. Coffee and tea facilities on the landing and a fridge for use downstairs. Nice small garden with table and chair to take the last of the sun in the evening, and a comfy lounge. Breakfasts were great, their home made granola was the best I have ever eaten.... And our host was kind enough to give us the recipe. The rest of the cooked breakfast, including bacon, sausage, tomato's, mushrooms and toast was equally excellent. We decided to cycle to the local vineyards and our host kindly lent us two good bikes for the afternoon at no charge. The house is very well situated with only a short walk into Richmond Centre. This is an excellent place to stay, great location, great breakfasts and very helpful hosts.
