  A return to home town with my 92 year old father in law

  Life is very short and since my father in law was soon to be turning 93 and in marvelous shape, my husband and I thought this would be a really nice time to visit his old home town of Graz, Austria. A chance to see his remaining relatives, visit some of his old "stomping grounds". We picked Hotel Kern Buam to stay at because it is very nicely situated not in the downtown core, but close enough to get there by car in less than 15 minutes. The hotel is a lovely, three story hotel with an elevator. Amazingly clean, quiet and the staff is excellent. No problem with English. Very reasonably priced and within walking distance to a grocery store and a really nice medium size mall ~ where the shopping is really good. Free parking and Wi-Fi. The breakfast is excellent, very fresh and plentiful. My only concern is for those that may have a mobility issue with getting into and out of a bathtub. Due to the height of the shower/tub combination it is very difficult to maneuver stepping in and out. Plus the shower soap dispenser is at one end of the shower stall while the shower head is at the other. So moving from one side to the other for the soap is very slippery. As a younger person I was ok, but my 92 year old father in law struggled. But as long as he was careful and hung on to the side of the tub, he was okay. But it did give us some worry. Not seeing any other rooms ~ not sure what other types of bathroom facilities are available, but it is worth the question. Other than that, everything was really nice and comfortable.

  very good value for money

  Nice and very clean rooms. All you need is available. Beds are very comfortable. Staff is very friendly. Breakfast is not amazing but simple and good. Very good value for money in the neighboorhood of Graz. City center is 5 min by car but can be reached with public transport as well ( bus station on the main street next to the hotel).

  Good but missing a restaurant

  - Breakfast choice somewhat limited, - No restaurant for lunch or dinner, - Clean and big enough rooms, - Friendly personnel, - Prices are ok. I would not recommend it for a romantic stay but the hotel is good enough for a business stay in town. A restaurant is missing when you need to work late though.

  Good comfy ecotel hotel

  The rooms were clean and comfortable and the BreakFast just right. The hotel staff was very courteous. This hotel does not have a restaurant and that was a bit of a discomfort. There is the CentreWest mall which is a mile away and you get good options there. If you have kids then there is ToyRUs and for you there is OBI and IKEA . I had to travel Gratkorn daily and the AutoBahn is just 1 km away.

  True hospitality

  Having a delay of our bus we went in to the hall of the hotel for shelter against the cold. The recepcionist not only let us to stay there for an hour withot having to buy a drink or something, but even gave us chocholate at the end! Thanks a lot again! We highly appreciated your kindness!
