Peace and serenityWe stayed at Keri Village in September. As previously mentioned, this is quite isolated with beautiful surroundings, which is exactly what we wanted. There is a bus to the beach (quite small and stony, but beautiful clear, warm, water) and back, where there are some tavernas, cashpoints and shops. A walk to the beach takes approximately 40 minutes. A walk to Keri village (in the other direction) takes about 50-60 minutes (60 mins to the lighthouse - great views). If you walk beyond the beach to Taverna Finale you can sit, drinking beer and watching turtles (if you look carefully). Taverna Apelati is at the bottom of the hill from the hotel (10 min walk) - a beautiful setting with homemade organic wine and olives and a very friendly owner. We bought wine and olive oil produced from here. There are some lovely walks in the olive groves. You can book trips at the reception desk. We booked a half day trip to Zakynthos town, visiting an organic farm on the way, which was interesting and good value (and back to the hotel for last orders at the bar!). The rooms are very clean with a wet room (overhead and handheld shower), two sinks with handwash and bodywash. The bedrooms are very well laid out with plenty of sockets (by the bedside and near to the mirrors). A hairdryer is provided. Plenty of hangers and wardrobe space. Outside patio area with table and chairs (but no clothers airer/dryer). The room had a fridge with a water bottle provided which can be filled from water coolers at the pool bar or restaurant. All the staff, without exception, are friendly, helpful and work really hard to provide their guests with the perfect holiday. There is a good choice of food - hot and cold food, a spit roast, and lots of choice every day from the restaurant, including fresh salads and fruit and delicious desserts. Tea and coffee are also provided. The pool bar provides food when the restaurant is closed, although we didn't sample this. Air conditioning is provided. There is a safe, for which there is a small fee, but we didn't feel the need to use this. Pool towels are provided - a deposit of 10 euros and a 3 euro cost, changed as and when needed at no extra cost. The pool is a good size and very clean and well maintained. I didn't get a chance to use the spa facilities, but very reasonable prices and I heard good reports. Sadly, we were evacuated, due to wildfires, on our last day. Throughout the staff remained calm and, as we were leaving the following day and left without our belongings, they went into our room, packed our cases and ensured we had everything prior to our flight. It is sad that the hotel suffered some damage, but delighted that all the staff are OK. Overall, if you want a peaceful holiday in a clean, well run, friendly hotel, this is the ideal place.

Initial Impressions Good, Wouldn't go Back Again!Upon arriving at the airport, we were picked up within 5 minutes or so and taken straight to the hotel. The roads aren't great but we made it. First impressions of the hotel: very nice hotel & friendly staff. Checked in straight away. We also got a room upgrade but not quite sure what the difference between the rooms were (other than room size). We had lunch at the hotel and had a number of wasps swarming us. Not an issue of course if it was to be a one off. The room we had was very nice and modern looking (air con included). Thick curtains which kept out plenty of light which was good for those afternoon siestas! One thing we noticed though was that there wasn't a safe in the room so be careful! The shower was a bit poor as it took 10 minutes for it to warm up plus the floor would get soaking wet because the shower isn't encased in a cubicle. Shower curtain only went 3/4 of the way down which didn't help. All in all this meant you need to wear shoes when going to the toilet. Also beware that the cleaners let themselves into the room without knocking or announcing themselves so be sure to keep your best self on show. Views of the surrounding areas by the pool were lovely though. However, the pool wasn't warmed and it was freezing cold. I don't mean the sort of cold you can eventually get used to, this was unbearably cold which meant no one took a dip into the pool. Shame, it looks good in the pictures! As for food, most of the buffet was somewhat OK but average at best. There was a noticeable difference in quality when the hotel owner had his friends round. The biggest disappointment here was there were flies everywhere. Not just outside but inside as well. And this was for every meal. No rest. The staff suggested that there was nothing they could do. Even having netting over the doors to the restaurant would have helped but they didn't seem to care. Be sure to bring your own fly swat! The hotel organised tours from the local town. We were tempted but travelled to the town via the shuttle bus (from memory they only ran twice). It's a good job we did because the hotel charged an additional 10 euros on top of a 15 euro tour. And that wasn't because it included any sort of food. Unfortunately, for a lot of the time we were there (7 days), there was a bad smell of rotten eggs for ~4 days. Far from relaxing. Didn't help that there wasn't much to see or do here. The place seemed like it had a lot of potential but it failed to deliver on any front. I would recommend staying away from here!
