Ok budget hotelThis is a 2 star hotel at the very end of the White Sand area. We booked our 2rooms only 3months in advance, it was cheap compared to many other hotels/resorts and you get what you pay for. The rooms is quite small with worn furniture, the furniture on the balcony is broken, no safety deposit in the room. In one of our two rooms we didn't had warm water one single day out of 12. The cleaning of the rooms consist of making the bed and change the towels, no changing of glasses for 12days and always sand/dirt on the floors. The breakfast is very basic with only a few alternatives/selection of thai and international dishes. Our rooms were on the 3rd floor and when we looked at the pool in the evening the water was very dirty so we avoided using the pool. The staff is polite and friendly as always in Thailand and they are doing their best to help and assist

Great value for what it isIn looking for hotels people trade off different aspects that are important to them: cost, location, proximity to other businesses and services, hotel services, facilities, etc. This hotel worked well for us as a value option, as a low-cost alternative in a less than ideal location, a good distance from the beach off to the side of one end of the White Sands area. It was about a 10 minute walk to that beach; not really close at all. The staff were really nice and friendly, but service level was typical for a 3 star hotel, on the limited side. They arranged an island tour that worked out really well but we ended up consulting other businesses related to setting up a hiking tour, with generally good results. Facilities, cleanliness, decor, everything along that line was quite acceptable at hotels in that range go. The pool really did need some work when we got there but someone cleaned it and then it didn't. It's funny how the most positive other review here says that there were lots of bugs around, it was dirty, the beds were hard, location terrible, hot water supply inconsistent, and so on. All that seemed to go a bit far, but then the hotel was basically empty when we were there, in between the hot season end and the low-season rainy period start. Hot water might well fluctuate more if the place was full. I saw some ants in the bathroom but living in Bangkok you tend to get used to that. To me it might make more sense to go with even more trade-offs related to facilities and seek out a better location, and extending that line of thinking lands people in those remote bungalo settings, some of which really are bamboo woven huts. It worked for us to be near to food vending areas, which also had us near bars, which different people could see as positive or negative. It might make sense to split vacation time on Koh Chang, to do a few days in a more populated area, and base day-trips out of that time (an island tour and snorkeling, for example, which we did along with a guided hike on a mountain), and then do more down-time in more remote area. Really the mix of interests in theme and emphasis on value would determine what would work best.

Simple but goodWe visited the Keeree Ele for 6 nights. I was a bit anxious because I read a review by a guest from Jan 2020 (*), but found it much better than described. The beds were fine, good mattresses; the fan and temp. of the a/c could be adjusted, so that I was not blown at all night. The water pressure was low but strong enough. Water temp was not high, but then the climate does not make need for hot showers. The breakfast was fine, you could choose from European or Asian style food. Plenty of coffee. WiFi only in the lobby though. Staff friendly after a few interactions (they dont speak English and are somewhat inhibited). The head even took us to a national park entrance as the ordered taxi didnt turn up. Walk to beach was quite far though - thats a real march along the busy and noisy road. All in all good value for money - and its a relatively cheap hotel.
