  Authentic experience

  Kawaguchiya Riverside hotel gave us an authentic onsen hotel experience. The staff were polite and helpful. One of the staff even helped us in wearing the pretty Yukatas which the hotel provided for us during our stay. Not many of the hotel staff speak English but they put in effort to communicate with us when we had issues. The dinner and breakfast were sumptuous - we were there for the crab but everything else tasted wonderful too! The place seems a little old, but it was still an enjoyable stay as it was in a quiet end of town and the futons were comfortable. Oh yes, apart from going around the 7 onsen in town, do go for the in-house onsen in the hotel, it's just as nice & less crowded (especially later in the night). ;)

  Family Holiday

  Visiting Japan without an onsen stop was simply not acceptable. This year we chose Kinosaki Onsen location. The hotel is about 8 minutes walking distance from the train station. There were plenty of visitors. The package also provide a free pass to 5 public onsens. I only have time to visit the highly recommended one. But the hotel also has its own smallish onsen which serve me well and the privacy it offers. The dinner and breakfast package was simply excellent. There was much to eat as well as variety. We all enjoy our stay here very much. On our departure day, the very nice lady owner was at the front door wishing us farewell before the hotel bus took us to the station for our final stop in Osaka.

  Convenient to hot springs area

  A large hotel on the edge of the hot springs area of Kinosaki. There is a free shuttle that will take you to any of the famous hot springs. The hotel will give you a free pass for the 7 public hot springs in the town during your stay.

  Wonderful experience at Kinosaki Onsen Town

  My wife and I had a relaxing holiday recently and a great experience at the Kawaguchiya Kinosaki Riverside Hotel. We took a train from Shin Osaka Station (2.5 hour) and a slow walk from the station to Kawaguchiya. (If you are following our route, when you reach the river, Turn Right and walk to the end of the road where you will arrive at a T junction, Turn Left. You will see a Idemitsu gas station, the hotel is just right opposite). The weather was cool that day and the town was quite thin in traffic. Check in was quite strict at 3.00pm, so we wandered out for a ramen lunch before returning again to check in. We had a Japanese room which looked out to Higashiyama Park and a view of the autumn leaves. Wed booked a half board package. The kaiseki dinner was elaborate and stunning - visually stimulating and delicious. Breakfast was equally well presented. Before dinner wed put on the yukata robe and the geta clogs, took a walk to the onsen bath (Satono-yu) next to the train station. The geta is very uncomfortable but quite a fun experience walking round town in the Japanese attire. Staff are friendly and helpful. Wed requested for a adapter. The reception staff initially told us they dont have any. We tried again and show them images of adapters and they came back with two boxes of adapters for us to choose. Overall we had a fun time and a relaxing holiday at Kawaguchiya.

  Wonderfully helpful and friendly staff, room scent musty

  I thought that the staff were polite and friendly, each one very attentive. This is a very old hotel, and the rooms are a little aged, but were comfortable enough. I found a strange smell in the toilet, which could probably be addressed. The shower room was particularly old ... but the location is convenient enough.
